Any update on how this performs on Series X/PS5?

Just curious if that was discussed anywhere. I know the Series X/PS5 versions are not out but the game, I would think would run better regardless on the newer consoles.

I’d like to know too. I usually play on an Xbox one x and went back to my PC characters recently after about a year of just playing the Xbox and... there’s a bigger difference than ever between console and pc. I was getting 100 FPS most places, 40 FPS at the super crowded dolmens in alikr, half the amount of people would have been a slide show on Xbox. The new consoles are both superior to my pc so it should be as good or better.

I'm in Australia so we're one of the early crowd.

I got the Series X and moved my ESO Install to the internal Hard drive.

    Zero Improvement.

Let me repeat - ZERO improvement.

I know some games definitely need a 'next gen' patch to make them perform better and some games can just ride brute force updates to run better.

But ESO on my Xbox One X and Xbox Series X today ran basically the same. No improvement at all, even on the 'load times' which heavily depend on your network speed and being in Australia, it's always been bad anyway.

I KNOW this game has a 'next gen patch' on the way, but for it not to be here at the next gen launch, what else can I say except...

... my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

I'll go back to just doing the dailies and not bother with this game until the patch drops. There's so many other games on the Series X that run at 60fps or better day one, it literally makes my eyes bleed to look at ESO in this state on a next gen console.

Thanks for the info... that’s disappointing, but not really surprising to learn that the frames are capped. If the “next gen” patch is capped at 30 that would be devastating and I’d really have to consider moving to pc.

There was no improvement from XBox One to XBox One X, so no wonder that Austacker just wrote, that there is no improvement to Series X, too.

No difference? Loading the game takes mere seconds now. Took mere seconds from booting the game up to it getting to the server screen. No way you got that on either PS4 or X1. You'd still have been waiting for the Bethesda logo to appear.

Yes way faster here on Xbox series X too, switching zones is no more than 6 seconds for me now, much faster than my old Xbox One X even with an SSD attached solely for this game.

Just guessing the configuration files are the same from one platform to the next, so those capped frame rates and graphic configurations you got on your old hardware are still the same you get on the upgraded hardware.

Clearly the game needs to run a platform check on install/start and set configuration default accordingly. Over here on PC we can of course fiddle with the config files manually so it's not as much of an issue.

The only difference FOR NOW that you will see is in MASSIVE PVP and RAIDS

In situations where old consoles would drop to 10 fps in Cyro / trial the new consoles will still be capped at 30:)

I saw an improvement in load times over my One X with external SSD but that's on the back of load times having increased the patch before last, I think. I didn't play much today but what I did play felt nice. It just seemed to be what it is - the same game on better hardware.

Yeah, I'm usually the worst person in the world sat looking a comparison videos. If you showed me a 30fps video and claimed it was 60fps or vice vera, i'd be sat here nodding my head. However, there is a massive difference in some areas of the game. Cyrodiil, loading times and visuals. Mounts no longer look as if I have switched on my xbox 360.

I can also tell those who probably have the series x in dungeons when passing through loading screen doors. I'm the first person to land in the dungeon, the first person to load into another cell and so on. It's strange. You can see the other person slowly appearing. For me personally, no more blacked out characters when first landing in heavily populated towns like Mournhold etc. It's so smooth and quick.

This sounds very promising. Wait times for me currently on my PS4 Pro can sometimes be long enough to make a cup of tea... in fact it's far more unusual NOT to have a "this may be a long loading screen" message.

I think main difference is that you went from an standard harddrive to an very fast SSD.
If op ran the game on an SSD, going to an fast one is less of an improvement.
Not sure about frame-rates on console. It might be that series X run in some sort of comparability mode as default.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Zos said that both ps 5 and Xbox sX versions will run in backwards compatibility mode . So Basically you’ll only get the benefit of the SSD

Until They bring out a specific patch that will
    Be the only difference

I just made a thread about this but the game finally finished installing on the Series X and I played 10-15 minutes. Its bonkers how much better the game FEELS. It loads way faster, it doesn't have frame drops anymore and everything from the menus to the map and everything in between is snappy. It does need the true next gen patch though so we can run it at 4k/60fps. When that happens it will be a perfect port...(mods someday pls)

There really was. For me anyway. Getting a One X basically fixed my stuttering back when playing through Orsinium.

Can confirm the load times for the core game are better, the new HDD/SSD hardware will naturally bring a boost.

But the network lag no next gen console will fix. Services in US / Euro only - none in Asia pacific = same old lag as ALWAYS.

I'm not as concerned with the network lag as I know no update will fix the fact they don't have local servers, but the ingame FPS performance is rubbish atm which is really disappointing when you note that a lot of the BC titles day one (even without a 'next gen patch' get big FPS boosts due to the fact they're not locked on frames).

I think the biggest improvement for this game will no doubt come with an unlocked frame rate. 60fps 4K on the Series X should definitely be achievable with that sort of GPU grunt and maybe even 120fps for 1080p?

Let's see, but yeah... this is ZOS, not getting my hopes up. :/

On Series X and PS5 4k@120fps is achievable for ESO, their GPUs are on par with GTX 1080ti in terms of performance and I had this card, it can do 4k120 (ultra) in ESO.
I also had GTX 10603gb which was doing 1440p@120hz in ESO (high settings with shadows to medium)

120hz VRR is the way to go for ESO since as a MMORPG there is no way to achieve consistent 60 or 120.

I just wish we would get max settings on the Series X. One X was already very nice, but I know that the PC version still looks superior - if the Series X version of ESO is on par that would be fantastic.

So is it PS4 or PS4 Pro quality? I’m just sittin here waiting for the postman to bring me my new friend...

Edit: still the same ultra annoying vibrant (blue and purple) HDR colour, stuttery motion and no improvement on loading. I’m running it on a 4k 120hz UHD TV, PS5, stored on the SSD, no improvement. But what ya gonna do, when they release the upgrade patch I hope for great things

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath anything like that will happen in the short term.

For sure the Xbox Series X is capable of 120fps @ 4k - but I think that would be really pushing it.

If you could get a locked 60fps @4k and / or 120fps @1440p / 1080p that would be more reasonable.

But right now, this game can't even perform 30fps @ 1080p reliably right at the moment, even on the Xbox Series X.

Yes, it's running purely in BC mode as we speak (so the only improvement atm is on the better SSD speeds), but even with brute force the game cannot perform any better right now.

Kinda tells me that at the moment, this game client has a locked frame rate and it shows.

Hopefully when Microsoft takes over officially we'll see a far better focus on performance than the current 'real money shop' focus we have now, but I'm not holding my breath we'll see anything real in the next 6 months at least.

Maybe by NEXT Xmas we might see something better. Right now, the game performance (like always) is just a sad joke.

Consistent frame rates and substantially faster loading on Series X conpared to my One X. Frame rate appears capped, which is expected for a non-updated version.

I feel sorry for the dude that has somehow had zero improvement.

He might have lots of latency and an SSD on the old system.

For me moving ESO to an fast SSD on an PC did not give much changes, granted I had 48 GB ram so most of the game was probably in cache anyway.

Series X made my load times negligible, framerate crashing hasn't been a thing and it looks a damn sight better but obviously still subject to server whims when it comes to general performance and skills firing.

It runs the same. I actually had a PS4 Pro and put an ssd in it so it’s really no difference for me. Lag - still there... even with amazing internet speeds. I think I’m hopping off this game until the next gen patch comes and hopefully they fix the lag; especially in my homes that I paid good money for... My other online games play amazing so I know it’s just ESO. SMH

I am in Australia and there's been a world difference in performance going from PS4 Pro to PS5. The load times are significantly improved in general, although there's still occasionally a longer one, the game in general runs smoother (even before the Markarth update was fixed - in so far as it was fixed - there were noticeable improvements).

It's really noticeable how much quicker toons and NPCs load in high volume areas like the Undaunted enclave in Wayrest for example. Now I very rarely see black silhouettes and the NPCs load in almost immediately.

I'm the first person loading into the dungeon - even on Australian internet! - instead of the last person.

Everything just... runs way smoother. Trials are way less janky outside of the usual server issues.

And when I crash, I can get back into the game so much faster! :D Almost too fast sometimes, since I usually play on PS-NA I have to load to the EU character load screen to get NA to forget I was logged in lmao but even then it's way faster.

The last PS4 version has freezing issues on the PS5. I rarely get past the load screen before it freezes. So until they put out a PS5 version I'll play it on my PS4
