whispering?

How do I send a whisper to a character in the world?
I was standing outside a dungeon when I got a random invite. I declined and wanted to whisper to the person telling them that I've already done it. No clue how :?

My memory is foggy and I haven't sent many tells, but to elaborate:

    /tell NAME, MESSAGE

Is probably the format, with a comma after the person's name. Since our names can have spaces, the game has to have a way of knowing where the name ends and your message begins, and the comma should serve that function. I don't remember if the game auto-fills the @ account name or not (those likely cannot have spaces, so you wouldn't need the comma to separate the name from the message).

/w Name, Message does work also.

Our guild did discover a tiny bug with this though. If the login ID has a special character in it, such as a " ' ", (apostrophe) then the whisper goes through as far as you can tell but is never really sent. This caused some "dissent" between a couple who play in different rooms, a bit of yelling "Hey why are you ignoring my whispers!" :s
