Where is Verandis after completing the "Second Chances" quest?

The "Taking up the Mantle" achievement requires you to talk to him in blackreach after completing that quest and I cant find him.

Just to add onto this, much like the S. Elsweyr DLC, the last part of the Markarth DLC and remaining 3 skill points is locked behind a secondary main quest that will pop up only if you've done the main questline in Greymoor. So make sure your character has done that one, then after you 'finish' the main quest line in Markarth Verandis actually tells you that you'll all be dealing with one of the other antagonists another day, but that day is now and a quest marker will pop up over his head after that convo if you've done the main Greymoor quest already. (If not, you can go back do Greymoor's main quest and return to talk to Varandis and activate the last three quests of the main quest line.)

Then you'll be fully complete with the main quest and he should be in the spot in blackreach.

(It doesn't effect me b/c I buy the chapters, but: Yes, I think it's pretty cheesy that zos seems to be making it routine to lock 3 skill points and 1/3 of the main quest of the final DLC every year behind buying the chapter-expansion, but that's how it is. If you don't want to buy the chapter, I guess you can always wait until next summer when it gets rolled into eso+ to finish Greymoor and the rest of Markarth).

So is the second chances quest locked behind having greymmor main story done? Also if its a main quest of the reach, why isnt Second Chances in the map completion menu?

You're focused on these 3 skill points even though there are 450+ skill points that are already in the game, @xaraan?

I'm focused on what's fair to players instead of defending a giant corporation. But you'd realize that yourself if you noticed I already pointed out it has no effect on me.

edit: and I think it's fair that if a player buys this DLC alone, they can access all the benefits of it and not have a portion of the story and skill points locked away behind also having to buy another expansion. It's a pretty shady move IMO and far from the only shady move they make money wise.

Ok, out of curiousity, can you tell me what this secondary questline is? I've completed ALL of Greymoor except the Dwarven dungeon. I also did the Markarth prologue on that character. I cannot use the gate in Western Skyrim, nor the cart in Bangkorai. I picked up the quest to meet Verandis, but it shows that I need to use the Wayshrine to Markarth. I feel like something is missing & I have NO idea where it might be or if it's broken. If you play on NA, you can message/mail me about it so as to avoid spoilers (@Lady_Shaie) here.

Oh and for anyone who is really into the story, as I am, the breadcrumb that is SUPPOSED to be in the Crown Store under DLC can be obtained by going into your Collections tab > Story > Markarth (Or Greymoor, I'm not in-game right now & I was tired when a guildie suggested I look there). Like I said though, there's no quest that takes you INTO Markarth, which feels wrong.

From what I understand, currently the only ways to get into Markarth are:
    1. If you have ESO+, port into the wayshrine, and go from there.
    2. If you have purchased the DLC from the store, you can walk in through the gate in Western Skyrim.

I haven't tested this personally, but apparently the gate does not unlock for ESO+ members. (It's unclear if that's intentional or a bug.) I have ported in on one of my characters, and I've got ESO+, but I haven't purchased the DLC because I have ESO+.

It's not clear if this is intended behavior (for whatever reason), or if it's the bug it appears to be.

Thank you for clearing that up! It HAS to be a bug since this is something that's not happened before. Guess I'll report it then (especially since the message for both when you click them is "You have not met the requirements to use this") as really not only SHOULD they both be functional if you've completed the Greymoor main storyline, but also that's where Verandis should be waiting (if not outside Solitude/faction main cities).

As bad as this DLC launch has been, I think someone needs to release the hounds at ZoS headquarters - they not only dropped the ball but it rolled WAAAAAAAY out of sight somewhere & sniffer dogs are now required to find it.

Wouldn't work. Rich's dogs are more likely to lick you to death than sniff anyone out.

Though, I agree, you can really tell that the team has been working remotely, there've been a lot of issues this year that simply haven't been caught the way you'd expect.

Something happens at the end of the Markath story that changes him. I agree he was one of the more sexy characters in game and I was also sad to see him changed. Still doesn't change how much I love his character, I'll just miss the eye candy part.
