My Take on a Spellcrafting System

Soul Shriven
- Is a weapon skill line
- 4 *Energies* to keep things simple (Ice, Fire, Lightning, Soul)
- An *Energy* is like a staff, meaning you can have different types, while still having one skill line
- Can have an energy in either hand
- Can have energy in both hands
- Can only have 1 max energy per type (eg. no fire in both hands)
- Energy in one hand and shield in the other counts as one hand and shield skill line (You can rename the 1H skill names to represent either blade or energy, i dont care)
- Deals Magika Damage
- Light attack deals damage and animation with right-hand Energy
- Heavy attack deals damage and animation with both Energies
- Can block with left Energy - Will give bonus resistance to the element of that spell
- Intterupt is a shockwave cast of both energies, has 5 meter distance
- Active ability idea: Uses animation from twin slashes (DW Skill line) but the weapons are constructed of element in each hand
- Active ability idea: Beam of Energy from right hand, activate again for beam of energy from left hand, activate again for beam of energy from both hands, all respective of the energy element equipped
- To save creating weapon skins for all existing motifs, do not create styles for this weapon - instead, have the hand area radiate with energy of chosen element
- Default animation for weapons drawn is hands just showing in a ready position (on screen for First Person View)
- The skin effect can be more intense for the first couple seconds as they usually are in this game for weapons
- Passive ability idea: Gain a certain amount of resistance for each element Energy that you have equipped
- Passive ability idea: Allows a further inturrpt range
- Ultimate ability idea: Constant beams for 5 seconds in the element of your chosen Energies with a lot of damage output.

What do you think ZOS?

Edit: These are just some random ideas that I am putting out there

So essentially a magic line without staves. Much like in Skyrim. What would be interesting to see is different branches for this line. For example Destruction, Alteration, Illusion, etc. Each line could have one or two iconic spells and various passives to improve the spells. Could work like a morphing. Once you reach a certain level in the main line you can choose to specialize to one of the branches.

Such a line could be a weapon skill line. They could implement an orb to equip to access the skills. Probably have to be two handed of course. Since you would be using both hands to cast. Depending on the orb and morphs you select is what type of damage you do. Much like staves have fire, ice, lightning, and restro the orbs would have their own types. Like what you mentioned in the start.

Empty hand spellcasting was the best part about elder scrolls.
That one khajiit obsessed with werewolf behemoth and vampire lord. Lady Thorn is bae, dont @ me.
    Werewolf behemoth=vampire lord>blood scion>werewolf>vampire.

I second that. I never used any of the staves in Skyrim. And in ESO, I was rather disappointed that I couldn't give my enemies a good whack with my stick xD I feel like it should've been an option tbh. Out of magicka? No worries! Start whacking!
