Mag sorc set question

Hello!

So I am fairly. Ew to endgame dps, and recently hit 60k with the following setup:
New moon acolyte body pieces.
Mothers sorrow inferno and jewelry
Inferno Maelstrom

For skills I had inner light and bound armaments on both bars

Front bar psijic weapon, haunting curse, crystal frags.
Back bar unstable wall, orb, degeneration.

So the basic question is will I profit from using war maiden on the body since most skills are magic damage? I know that light attacks and atro ult are not buffed by it but I dunno.

Nope, War Maiden does not work well on Sorc. Even after the buff, you’d need more than 50% of your damage to be Magic type for it to break even with Julianos, and there are plenty of sets that outperform Juli: Mother’s Sorrow, Burning Spellweave, Medusa, Mechanical Acuity, Siroria, Moondancer, Master Architect.

I also wouldn’t use Degen on a Sorc. Channeled Accel or Barbed Trap would do more damage, and there are situations where Boundless Storm (melee range) or Lightning Flood (AoE) could fill that spot.

I am currently running Medusa and Siroria on a magblade. Its great. I do the 2 heavy Medusa body, rest Siroria light body, light monster pieces, Siroria inferno, and 3 Medusa jewelry. And its specifically so I don't have to run Trap or Channeled Acceleration and have 100% uptime on Minor Force.

As for something in-between that is not a trial set, @WrathOfInnos is dead-on with BSW and Mother's Sorrow. Others are Catalyst and Scathing Mage. Thing is, its probably easier to farm NCR with a couple friends for Siroria than it is to get those sets.

I presume you're thinking of Elemental Catalyst single-barred? Otherwise I don't see how it's hard to get.

And I presume if one runs Catalyst one's spammable is a Force Shock morph?

That's what I was thinking. And the reason I said its harder to farm than other sets is the sparsity of drops in Stonegarden and the popularity of the set. Especially compared to Siroria, where you can get all your body pieces in a few runs. The inferno staff is another story, obviously.

I got lucky with the siroria inferno so I will give that build a try

I like it a lot. Obviously, there are some fights its not suitable if the boss requires you to be mobile. But for the most part, its effective in the majority of endgame boss fights.

If you are going to do the 2 body pieces, you want Medusa chest and either legs or boots. Chest has the highest resistance value and the legs/boots are second highest, so might as well pick up some tankiness. Get both in divines. I'm 90% sure the jewelry only drops in healthy, so you'll want to transmute to bloodthirsty.

You can obviously run a Medusa staff if you get one on the front bar. You'll be missing out on the Minor Force when you swap to your back bar. The only reason I see for doing this is so you can run the 5-1-1 setup for the Undaunted Mettle perk.

I think Siroria front bar is the best setup, even if it means no medium armor (so 5-0-2 instead of 5-1-1). The ability to control when the Siroria circle procs can make building and maintaining stacks much easier.

For example in vCR you don’t want a Siroria circle to appear randomly while you are running to a new boss location. Better to stay on your back bar while moving, and then swap to front and create the circle when you get into position.
