Crazy inflation since greymoor

The mats price overall on has been going up since greymoor, with few exceptions.
This is crazy inflation and it should be alarming.
It is reasonable to think the increase of alloy price is because the reduced number of botters.
However, items like berverz juice and frost miriam was not supplied by botters.
Price increase of these items is an indication of over inflation.
The increased cost of guild trader is also an indication of too much gold is around.
Here are some ways to reduce the gold in market:
Get rid of the vendor treasure antique scry stuff.
Remove gold reward from quests and increase mat drop from writ.
At least one 100k lux vendor furnishing item every week.
Remove ap purchase option from golden, maybe lower the gold purchase price.
Make half the new houses purchasable with gold.

This makes the demand for mats rise, and, by effect, the prices are also going up. also, since a lot of people didn't knew what was coming with the updates, They started to hold up to their mats foreseeing the would need them, Reducing the supply and, by effect, raising the prices.
It's simple, really: Suplly and demmand law...

✭Or maybe it's because of all the new crafting stations? A lot of guilds are burning up mats trying to get the new stations in their guild halls. You can bet they'll be doing gold master writs that take gold mats. A lot of solo players have all of the stations in their homes also, so more gold mats. It's just increased demand. Not to mention if you start making new gear with the new features, you are going to want that gold level too. It makes perfect sense for the prices to be high right now.

Swordancer✭✭✭It is all about builds. Too much things too test. So many sets, so many effects, so many changes, nerfs, buffs. When I buy materials it is mostly becouse I want to test gear with best results. Think how many materials you bought last month for yourself, now multiply that by amount of players and you got your reason. Also people are not grinding so much like before. I do not know the reason for that but it the truth. Maybe the farmers have burned out.1 -

✭With the exception of some of the jewellery plating I don't see anything completely out of whack, and chromium plating has been insane due to supply/demand forever.
Not so say there are not bad things going on - people are selling chromium plating for crowns (and for hard cash on various websites) which is driving a whole other set of problems. The price is bounded though - eventually the cheapest way to get chromium grains will be to buy golden vendor items and deconstruct 8)

✭It's normal to see increases when they drop updates to PTS and release new content. People buy up low and sit on it then shoot up prices. Give it another week or so and prices will level out.1 -

Since the more money are circulating on the server, More people will be willing to buy at higher prices, wich incentivates people to sell itens in a higher value. Thus making the prices go higher.
It's ironic how a video game can mimic so well the real life market rules, being just a simplified model of it...

Why do you think it’s just a change in spending patterns (starting around Greymoor apparently) and not a change in the amount of gold circulating?

Popular gear sets were nerfed into Oblivion and obscure ones were buffed to Aetherius, it's resulted in huge swings in the meta (especially in PvP) that require players to gold out many new sets of gear.
Six months ago gold materials were cratering and now they are booming. My personal niche is Chromium and six months back I stopped selling them altogether as prices had dropped to a measly 70k. Now they're back up and it's actually worth selling them again.3 -

its a special pvp trader which normaly should only accept ap but in no way only gold

✭✭✭✭✭What is happening now is not harmful inflation, but prices on mats jumping because demand went up, thanks to reconstruction. People are finally getting in order the gear they wanted to for all the characters they are willing to do so, more people buying mats, less mats to buy, people are willing to pay more for mats, prices go up. It is essentially basic supply and demand of a free market. I don't know what you expect zos to about a free market...5 -

That explains alloy and wax price, but it does not explain frost mirriam and berverz juice price, which is the concerning part1 -
TineaCruris✭✭✭✭✭If you go to a guild store in any of the main vendor towns, search for any high demand item, especially gold mats and regularly used alchemy items, you will see that people are listing these items for literally 1000x their value or more. (you can see their @name with their listing by the way) Between this and people thinking ESO is "playing the market", so all they do all day is go buy up items in high demand to relist them at inflated prices. It also seems like drop rates on highly used items were lowered with Greymoor release.
So, all in all, you betcha, prices for everything that is used daily to play ESO is going through the roof. This trend started six months to a year ago.Edited by TineaCruris on November 5, 2020 11:55PM2 -
