Witch-Knight set

Anyone know exactly how this set works? Does it require the poison status effect? Would simply the dot from Acid Spray or Poison Injection activate it? Does the initial hit of the skill that applies a poison dot get boosted by the 5 piece? Thanks folks

i wanna use it for stam dk with claws which inflicts status effect instantly and guaranteed. i dont think spray guarantees the proc.1 -

It procs on poison damage, so I believe it is abilities that have poison damage, not the poison effect. But I have not tested it.1 -

Very interesting. Unfortunately this sounds unintentional based how they have been preventing procs from proccing other sets. I predict a nerf incoming next patch.0 -

When it comes out I'll be using this in a new build idea I got.
Witch-knight's Defiance
Sheer Venom
Master's Bow/Caustic Arrow
Master's Maul/Titanic Cleave
If I use Reverse Slice it'll apply Sheer Venom to a group of enemies which will apply Witch-Knight's Defiance's effect to the group as well. Then I spam Brawler for massive damage and a renewing damage shield. Great for quickly clearing out trash mobs in dungeons and surviving ball groups. I could use Carve instead for even more DOT and use Soul Tether to keep me alive but I've never liked relying too heavily on ultimates and Brawler is great for survivability.
If I use Poison Injection it'll apply Sheer Venom, Witch-Knight's Defiance, Master's Bow/Caustic Arrow, and of course Poison Injection's effect with one ability. Then I can just spam Lethal Arrow and use CCs and debuffs as needed.
You may be thinking "woah, so much weapon damage and not much crit and penetration". I'll be able to take care of the lack of crit with nightblade and bow passives, and penetration with mundus stone, weapon trait, and weapon passives.0 -

Well, the procs from Venomous/Syvarra aren't proccing anything in this case. They are inflicting the target with a poison effect, and Witch-Knights set has a flat damage boost against poisoned enemies, it doesn't actually 'proc'. I'm assuming the boost will also work if the target is poisoned by another player as there is no 'from your poison effect skills' in the 5 piece description, it simply requires the target to have a poison damage effect on them.Update 35- No Fun Allowed1 -
Navaac223✭✭✭✭This might be a very old discussion but it gave me the idea to try witch-knight front bar + caustic arrow back bar (sprinkle some wretched vitality for sustain ofc). Maybe this can make a decent poison build0 -
