What did they do during the midyear mayem event that, to a large degree at least, made things run mostly smooth?

Why can't we do that full time?

Good question I would like to have an answer to that to.
That I assume happened was that you got lots of PvE players flooding into Cyrodil usually solo and puging.
Now the PvP guilds who spends most of their time in Cyrodil found it was hour long queues to enter their default campaign so many moved to overflow campains.
In short it was fewer of the huge drawn out fights. Then an PvP guild fought an pug it was an short fight :)
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

First they remove insects from the map to reduce lag. Now they are removing players to reduce lag. Looks legit for me.

Except they didn't. The same guilds ran in the main campaign during the MYM event as run all the time, at their same scheduled meeting times. Guild members just had to get in que an hour early to make the raid group. It's the pugs that aren't committed to a campaign that filled the alternate camps. It's the pugs that won't sit through the rediculous que, not the committed PvP guild raid members.

I would like to know as well.

any ability that hits friendly targets should only be usable on group members. This showed a bit of lag decrease, and for players is an advantage. If i cast a aoe friendly spell, i want my group to benefit from it, not some randoms. And if i am solo, i don't want my regen or whatever to target someone random. This should be applied to the whole game, because except for some random world bosses, where else would this be harmful?

Two people are grouped take a resource. Two ungrouped people go from the keep to go and reclaim the resource.

That should be an even, interesting fight.

It's not because the mechanic totally screws over the people who are ungrouped.

That dynamic will apply to everyone, everywhere, all the time in Cyrodiiil. Not in a group = play at a fundamental disadvantage. Those Pugs who are on the ram just trying to contribute to their supposed "Alliance" and dying to oils? Even though you are on the same team, you can't heal them. That organized ball group people already complain is too strong and puts too much pressure on the server? Now they are even stronger because while they can spam heals, buffs, and purges the pugs they are farming now can't.

Agreed. Being able to heal and to be healed by "randoms" can make for interesting open world encounters and IMO is an important base mechanic of Cyrodiil PvP. If its restriction would solve all performance problems, I can live without it. But let's not trow it under the bus because of (so far) anecdotal evidence.

hehe ball groups start to cry cause they know the nerf hammer is coming xD
i hope they *** purge spam too and not only shared hots

You have obviously not read the discussions on the forum or in cyro zone chat. This is not about pvp guilds these potential changes destroys a combat system which is the reason for many to play ESO. PvP guilds have good theory crafter so they can handle these changes, but I fear that many players will leave ESO for New World and other MMO. Based on ZOS track record so far these changes will also be implemented for pve. These combat changes may thus kill ESO.

You mean that MMO which looks incredibly generic? why would people leave ESO for "that"

In my experience, Joy, this is already the truth, and has been for as long as I have been riding through Cyrodiil. I probably spend 25% of my time there grouped and 75% running around by myself. In all that time I can not remember having a single moment where I was like whoa that heal from player XZY just saved my butt. Not one time that comes to mind. When playing magika toons, however, I have had plenty of times where the heal that I intended to save my own butt went to someone else. It hasn't happened in quite some time because I basically quit using a resto staff at all in Cyro. Class self heals are all that I find reliable when solo-surfing magika toons. Stamina characters have it pretty easy with the self healing they can get outside of class skills. I don't see limiting buffs and heals to group only as really making any difference at all from what is currently going on. That is just my experience, and may not reflect everyone's, but you would think at least once in 4 years I would have stumbled on a heal from someone else that saved my butt while soloing, and I just haven't.
