I don’t want items dumped directly into my inventory. I don’t always buy things on the character I want them for. I’d rather just leave them in mail until I get to the character I bought them for.

That'd be the main issue actually. Having to zone out after a 1st transaction has been taken out the inbox is weird. It should be feasible to repair that functionality, but anyways... There are other bugs that would need to be addressed before this "inconvenience".fun fact the first time you zone in and do your shopping itll automatically send you a mail when you get the mail tab.
its only if you empty the mailbox and continue shopping do you need to zone for faster mail

For instance, if I'm looking at mail on my iPad it doesn't check for new mail until I close/reopen the app or switch mail folders. In MS Outlook you can usually tell the computer how often you want it to check for new mail; I think the default might be every 15 minutes, or something like that.
To be honest, I'd rather have to wait 15 minutes to get any new mail, or force a mail check by changing zones if I'm anxious to get something I'm expecting to receive, than have the server devote any extra CPU time and memory resources on keeping my mailbox constantly refreshed.

Sure it's not a bug, just an inconvenience. Although this is not SMTP nor IMAP mail protocol, I understand that having the engine check the "inbox" every 5 seconds or so would put more strain on the CPU. A button allowing us to do this instead of changing zone could be a solution.
A button allowing us to do this
They could make the button have a 30 second time out. They control every step of the process so preventing that kind of thing would be pretty easy, relatively speaking.SeaGtGruff wrote: »-- as long as players don't sit there spamming the button for whatever reason (anxious to receive some purchased item, deliberately trying to put a strain on the server to crash the game on other players during PvP, etc.).

anyway it could be improved on the technical aspect of it I would support
I don't see the relevance in regards to changing zone in order to update the inbox (whatever you've bought or received from another player and/or as a gift from the Crown store). It's not (and should not be) related, or am I missing something ?volkeswagon wrote: »it wouldn't work because then you wouldn't be able to by any unique items such as treasure maps if you already possess them
That would do it... In fact:PeacefulAnarchy wrote: »They could make the button have a 30 second time out.
