PvE Tanking armor sets

Tigerboy78
So I'm trying to build a Redguard DK Tank. What are Mercedes should I be trying to use? I heard Fortified Brass is a decent set to use but what about Eternal Vigor? Also what Monster set is best for dungeon tanking?

There's no point using a resistance set since the cap for resists is 33k and that's easy enough to get near.

Gear wise there's a lot that you may want depending on the group and your goals. You have sets that buff the group, sets that help survival and balanced sets that do both.

    Examples being:
    • Alkosh - Debuffs the resistance of any enemy hit by around 5k, which mean your dds need around 5k less penetration and can spec that into more damage or survival, but it is medium armour and offers nothing for yourself.
    • Ebon - A load of health for yourself + 1.2k health for every other member in your group.
    • Yolnakriin - Minor Courage (100ish weapon and spell damage) for everyone in your group.
    • Plague Doctor - A boat load of health for yourself, but nothing for the group.
    • Powerful Assault - 300ish weapon damage for anyone you hit with the proc, but it is medium armour and offers nothing for yourself.
    • Akaviri Dragonguard - Nice tanking stats on 2-4pc, plus reduced ult cost which will help with your sustain and also group damage/healing depending on the ult you choose (Warhorn is the staple since it gives 15% crit damage done for everyone, plus 10% max resources)
    • Torugs Pact - Nice 2-4pc & Increases enchant potency 30% which can either help with damage via a crusher enchant, or survival via a weakening enchant etc

There's many many more that could be used, especially in dungeons, have a look on https://eso-sets.com/ where you can see all sets and see what fits you. Also have a look for written builds on https://alcasthq.com/ or https://eso-u.com/ Even check videos on https://liko.gg/

As for some monster sets again there's a lot depending on the situation. Lord Warden, Bloodspawn, Thurvokun being the generic ones but again you should find different ones listed for different builds via the links above.

He was my original toon who was a dps. I stopped playing him a while ago so I decided to make him a tank.

Imperium is solid for dungeon running, especially if you're doing it without a dedicated healer, 50% uptime on a 11k party shield is stronk.

Monster sets are very much a 'what do you need' sort of thing.

Lord Warden is a solid go-to.
    Engine Guardian for resource management.
Sentinel of RK or Symphony of blades for resource management if you're keeping well up.
    Tremorscale has its uses.
Swarm Mother isnt terrible for certain fights, but as a DK, you have pull as a class skill.

I am using Ebon and Yolvakiin and Lord Warden.

It is easy to get super tanky it is most important to try to increase your allies damage.

I think it really depends on the group you're playing in and what the particular needs of the group are... And also how you want to tank... Ever thought about what sort of tank you want to build? One that holds block and just waits the fight out or one that's going to be actively fighting and moving around?

Maybe a way to find out what you need is to just get warrior poet + plague doctor(easily farmable or buy in GS), then you're plenty tanky and have loads of health. After running with this for a while you'll discover you need more of this or more of that, then you'll know what to look for in the next set...
