A compromise solution on increasing the furnishing limit

Since the developers seem reluctant for whatever reasons to increase the current/inadequate amount of furnishings players are able to place in their home, I was considering a compromise solution that might help.

Why not give players portals/doors they can place inside their house that allow players to zone into different homes in their possession - similar to how the Hall of the Lunar Champion works. That way players would be able to link multiple houses together. With a little creativity, I think players could use this process to create large and expansive homes without having to worry about the furnishing limit severely cramping their style.

You can do this with the Essential Housing Tools add-on

There is an addon that lets you add portals and/or doors into your house that teleport you to other homes?

You may have misunderstood what my post was talking about. Because I find it unlikely an addon would be able to do that.

EHT portals can jump you and your guests to any home you own, or any home owned by another player.

Well that's a cool feature if addons can actually do something like that.

Just all the more reason a feature like that needs to be added to the base game, though. Because not everyone has access to or uses addons.

Does this addon let you control the entry point going into the linked home as well? It would also be nice if you could disguise the portal as a door. That way you could make it appear as if you were just entering another room instead of traveling to a new home.

You can not change where in a house you enter unfortunately. Still cool, but the portals are just a shortcut to other means of traveling to someone's home. That said you always enter the front door.

Yeah it still sounds like a cool feature. The developers must give addon makers more access to their game than I originally thought if they can actually insert portals into player's homes.

I hope the developers expand on this idea so players can effectively combine multiple homes into a more seamless environment. It would be one way to bypass the furnishing limit.

I would love to have portals that I can place in my houses to link to another of my houses in the base game. Especially as console players (which I am) cannot use add-ons.

You actually can place an EHT portal anywhere, scale it to any size, dye it any color. I have seen them made into giant gateways, shrunk into wall mirrors, hidden underground and, perhaps my favorite, floating in someone’s toilet.

You can’t control where the portal brings you inside of the destination home (it’s always the entrance) but there are portals that instantly return you to the current home’s entrance (without the animation) that I have used as a shortcut back to the start of a maze.

It sounds interesting. It's actually tempting me to violate my no addon rule. haha
