Vaults of Madness - Where is the "Scroll of Glorious Battle"?

I've been sent on the undaunted pledge for this place and I'm at the final boss. I want to activate hard mode but I can't find the scroll anywhere... I googled it and everyone says that the scroll is "near the boss" but I can't find anything?

How do I activate hard mode? I don't get it, nothing is explained clearly at all.

You sure you're in the veteran version? No hard mode on normal difficulty

I dunno, I just entered the place normally, there was nothing about any "veteran" or "normal" mode offered. How would I even activate a "veteran" mode?

Literally nothing is explained anywhere

The Bosmer NPC who gave me this quest offered me the possibility to invoke the scroll. I said ok. But I guess he was lying?

(Note that any bluntness isn't directed at you, but at the ***-poor design of these daily quests that explain nothing and offer me stuff I apparently don't even have access to...)

Are you sure you're in Vet mode? I don't know if this is still the exact spot, been a long time since I bothered with this pledge. I just googled a video and skipped til I found one with the scroll.

Did you solo it or queue for it? If you queued, you simply pick vet from the list. But you probably ported in there solo. Then you need to set the dungeon mode to vet first. Go to the group finder window ( where you queue for daily random) and theres 2 small icons on top that you can toggle.
When at last boss, the scroll is right after you cross the broken bridge, cant miss it.

Veteran is a group mode feature. If you're just porting in or making your own group, it's in the group settings. Just hit social >group. You will have to be party leader or by yourself to change a dungeon this way, and you cannot change it mid-dungeon without exiting first. Changing the difficulty willl reset the dungeon.

You can also just queue for it using the activity finder. Just tab over to Veteran dungeon and select Vaults of Madness. You'll be placed in a queue and get a tank, healer, and 2 dps as your party. One of those 4 slots will be filled by you, depending on which you queue to be.

@Zenimax maybe your devs can insert a dialogue box when you enter a dungeon asking if you want normal or vet mode or something? I'm sure this stuff seems pretty straightforward to most people but I don't do dungeons very often except to solo them so I can get a good challenge and take my time.

But as I said, I didn't even know that "veteran" mode even existed until just now, and I've been playing this game for over 5 years, lol

I'm not sure that this is that big of an issue.

I guess the many ways of doing dungeons is not too clear.

Queue from the menu is pretty straight forward.

You can also gather a group of one or more. Select your dungeon difficulty from the group member screen and travel right to the dungeon bypassing the queue.

Go to your group page and there will be a difficulty setting at the top. The quest in your quest journal also makes mention that you only get the bonus keys on veteran mode and the group finder includes a dropdown to select veteran difficulty.

When you enter a veteran instanced area the veteran shield is put on the loading screen big for all to see as well.
