I've given it a lot of though and discussed things with fellow vets...Not vets in game but MMO vets of 10+ years gaming online.
This game is rather amazing and while the patches are not quick enough for some... the patches are being done properly as to not cause more problems which is all we can really ask for. In the past many games have patched wrong and forgot to check and double check for problems created by the fix. In this case, Zenimax is taking their time to do it right. Their staff is not that of Trion (which is the best development and patching team in the history of MMO), but with the staff they have, Zenimax is still doing it right and getting the job done.
My complaints have been more on the line of balance and failure to moderate the in game activity. Personally I feel they need to listen to the experienced here and spend 2 saleries on in game moderation. Let their presence be known and felt across the game and put the fear of a GM appearing and catching a cheater in action and banning them. When you weigh the costs...the moderator can multitask providing customer support and in game live events as well. Think of them as the double edged sword of the game... Saving the community from people jumping ship by tens of thousands due to the gross nature of hackers and exploiters running amuck...its work 60-100k a year when you do the numbers.
Bottom line though... you have to be fair and look at what has been done and what can be done in the future. If moderation is put into action...and PVP is balanced finally with proper settings (already hit that over the head in 5 threads myself)... then this game with its in depth stories and crafting will be the #1 game of the decade. Its all about how they choose to care for it... like a baby...
