Request to Split Costumes & Hats

Just wondering if it was possible to split Costumes so that ones with helmets can be equipped helmet only, and visa versa.

Love the new Sovngarde armor, but would love to wear my Nord Hero Armor's helmet over the Sovngarde helmet.

Would be cool to have the option of mixing and matching costumes. Thoughts?

I had always wondered why Zos made costumes one piece to begin with. It makes more sense to have them made of separate pieces like our gear so it would work with the outfit system. Granted, many of the costumes would need most/all of the pieces to really work but that is beside the point and not applicable to all.

I doubt they will go back and redo any of the previous released ones but perhaps they can split more of them going forward. I know plenty of costumes I don't like the hat and would love to swap it instead of just turning it off

I see this as an general very good idea. Especially hats who are not connected to outfit unlike hoods.

Would be a huge plus. I want those boots on the new dark passions regalia costume. But the rest meh.. it would be great if you could equip the costume and deselect parts of the costume revealing an outfit component like hats/helms. Seemingly could be done in the outfit system. Without it tho I've been loath to buy any new costumes. Might hedge my bets on ZOS actually doing it though because I REALLY want those thigh high boots!

This was mostly about hats, and yes selling them as hats even if part of outfits would be ok for me.

Other parts would be nice too. Now lets talk of the ledgerman stolen clothes and the broom.

And the tail turf artifact

Showed up on an short time NPC at he end of the southern Elseweyr quest with the Khajiit who was in a Wrothguar quest.
That thing has been around since Morrowind beta together with Argonian tail spikes but they don't stand out as much.
Another Khajiit at the Solitude docks also have it, it might be the same turf.

I want costumes to be split up into body slots and then integrated into the Outfit System. The things I could do with some of those tops...

I actually tried yesterday to mix a costume body and an equipment/outfit head piece. I was really disappointed that that wasn't a thing.

It does seem like a possible QoL update for the future though.

You can hide the headgear of a costume and can alternatively replace it with a hat. But you cannot do the inverse and wear the headgear from a costume with different armor.

Personally, I wouldn’t expect them to separate out the rest since it may not be in separate pieces like regular armor. That’s why it baffles me that at least shoulders as well as headgear aren’t hideable with armor, since everything is already separate so there wouldn’t be any separating of models (or whatever the correct terminology would be). In contrast, I don’t think many of the costumes would separate well into discreet pieces — especially between chest and legs. Otherwise, I’m all for it — the more options to customize, the better.
