Do you have a gambling problem with this game?

I noticed some threads and posts about problems with gambling. I am not a gambler, I actually hate gambling but I wonder is gambling in game such as this one really an issue for some of you?

How many gems do you have? Admit it! xD

I have about 150 gems left because I bought some items recently. As for gambling: I don't really care. If there is something interesting, I might buy 15 or 30 crates, turn everything into gems and buy what I want.

No. I like to get what I pay for.

What if its not available for gems right now?

Nope. I have 400 gems right now on my main account, as I got a sweetroll out of the 4 crates I bought a month or so back - the nightfall ones I think they were. I only buy a few crates when it's ones I like which there really haven't been many of lately.

nope, I never gamble. I either buy the things I want directly, and if it's not an option then I just don't do it.

That's not how it works... everything that is available via crown crate can be purchased via gems. The only way to accumulate gems is convert unwanted crown crate items.

A BIG nope, especially with ESO, the price:rewards are not worth it at all imho. ESO needs to do way better to sell me digital pixels for a premium price directly and I'll never buy crates.

I've bought a few crown crates with surplus ESO+ crowns. Sometimes I get a few good things out of it. I finally saved up enough gems to buy a pet. I don't know how many gems I have now. Maybe 6? I don't pay a whole lot of attention to them.

I've got around 150 gems, all from when they gave away the free crates that first year.

Never bought any boxes. Honestly, I love when games give away free crates, because opening them and seeing what junk falls out, just reinforces my desire to not waste money on them.

(I open crates in other games, but only ones I can get free or via in-game resources. I might have spent a couple bucks on 'random boxes' in a f2p game or two, but only because I enjoyed the game, wanted to give the dev some cash in recognition of that, and any other 'cash shop' options were terrible. Like Fallout Shelter - I got a few $1-2 random pet boxes during one of the super-duper anniversary sales.)

As for actual gambling - nah, I've never made a bet on anything, or played casino games for anything beyond jellybeans. My luck with RNG / card decks / etc, is absolutely terrible! I'd never wager real money on anything. :D Heck, I never even played MtG for ante, back when that was a thing that still existed.

His point is that you did purchase it, but it was not delivered to you and instead you got 4 after dinner mints for the $19.37 you spent, and the restaurant is ok with this.

ESO has the most reasonable crowncrate(gambling box) system there is, as with the gems you can target farm the thing(s) you want to get. The only real problem I currently have with the system, is that radiant apex mounts are not available for some amount of crowns.

Those with a gambling addiction, or any other addiction will be triggered by anything. So applying this specifically to crowncrates or ESO, is not something that should be done.

Not much...scratch tickets once in awhile.

I don't like housing, non combat pets, costumes, or 90% of the flashy mounts,...not really much left to gamble for.

Some of the skins are ok.

Durzog mount is the best item I have seen in the crown store for some time.

I buy crates with gold, but I don't gamble.

I only open crates for the wolf mount, without any expectation of getting it. I generate 400 gems, then buy the wolf. It is about 30 crates that make 400 gems usually, if your lucky enough to get some high up doubles. I'm happier to see a double (gems) than not. I sometimes buy 4 lots of 15 so ensure my next round of gems are in the bag, as its likely to hit more doubles.

The only gambling I do in ESO is not during opening crown crates, but the process of buying them. You don't know if the seller is a crown/gold scammer. That is the only gamble, that is the only point of uncertainty, that is the only point where my cards are on the table and I could lose the lot.

So yes, I'd love to see an end to the 'gambling' in this game, and by that, I mean ZOS actually puts in a method of crown exchange that isn't a joke and takes it seriously.

PS I was scammed ~3 weeks ago along with several others at a similar time by the same guy, support ticket seems to be in limbo.

I buy one crate when a new crates are available. I use the crowns I get from subbing ESO+.

The majority of gems I own are from twitch drops and from ESO streams.

I buy set amount of crates almost every new shipment. almost because it depends on what the crates are offering. I never gamble on radiant apex. if about 50% or more of the random stuff in crates is something that interests me? (so costumes, emotes, accessories, furniture, minipets) I buy 2 packs of 15 (gold only ever since crown gifting became a thing) because I'm interested in many things, my chances of getting them outright are decent. the rest I get with gems from consumables and duplicates as well as twitch streams.

my subscription crowns I save for ESO plus deals and occasional limited time direct purchases that may not be possible with crown gifts ( crown availability and prices from traders I actualy trust - can vary and I am NOT gambling on trade chat traders. no offense and I'm sure most of them are lovely people but I would rather not take the risk of running into one that is not)

if while doing above I don't get enough crowns to get everything I wanted out of a particular shipment.. I decide on what I'm willing to not have... and don't get it. I do NOT spend above my set amount.

so.. I guess that means I do gamble, but I don't have what I would personaly call a gambling problem as I do not allow myself to go overbudget so to speak.

P.S. I currently have 409 crowns left (that is counting watching twitch for free crates whenever drops are active). but.. I haven't purchased some of the furnishings I wanted yet, so it will likely be more like 150ish going into next shipment.

    This discussion again?
Gambling is when there's a good chance you'll get NOTHING for your money.
With crates, you'll always get something, even if it's not something you want. There is zero chance to get nothing.

I'd prefer if everything was in the store and crown crates didn't exist, but here we are. Don't buy them.

I currently have around 10 because I spent them on the stuff I wanted.

It's not a gambling issue, it's a math issue. It all depends on the Crate type.

If there is something I want, I check to see how many gems it costs. If I have purchased a large number of that specific type in the past, I know then that I can accumulate the gems required with a minimal number of crates - Since the majority of the collectibles I already own and auto change into gems.

If the Crates are New, I know I will need to buy more, since there is no option to turn Initial collectibles into gems. But there is also the possibility of 'finding' what I want in those new crates. So I buy a few, see what I get and the number of gems I receive. Then do the math, buy a few more, rinse and repeat until I have what I want.

But it all comes back to - IF there is something I want. I have no compulsion to buy crates just for the sake of buying crates, or because they are new.

    1500 gems.
    >.>
I buy between 30 and 75 crates per season with gold. I got a few repeat apex mounts this season which hiked up my gem count.

I very rarely buy over 75 a season cuz I'm not into the radiant apex chase and I can get pretty much everything I want in 30-75. I always buy them with gold, as well. I think "gambling" issues might mostly come into play for people who are really after the shinies -- the radiants you can't get regardless of gem count. I feel bad for people who spend thousands and don't see a single radiant drop. Really not a fan of that system, but I understand why a company would do it lol.

I sometimes spend the crowns I get from subbing on crates so if buying crates were gambling at least I would be playing with house money.

    It's still okay in general.
Radiant apex is the thing making some whales keep buying crates.
I'm not trying to get any radiant apex. Got an apex that I really like with 45 crates, and I still have over 400 gems for another apex. I'll keep the gems until I meet another mount or item I like.
We'll be fine as long as we don't seek for the radiant apex.
No improvement on Cyrodill servers -> no ESO plus renewal.
