zone chat is instanced too

it is bad enough that we do not have a group finder for arenas or trials, or at least some kind of room where we see and accept people in a group. You can hardly find players to do content, sometimes groups cancel the gathering because they can't find a tank. Meanwhile in another instance of a map, people are searching for groups in the zone chat.

a guildie asked me in guild chat for a tank, i joined the group today and we needed one more healer, I asked the group leader to ask in zone chat, i saw no messages from him. He said what am i talking about, he asks every minute. When i joined his group i was asked to join his instance but declined. So this makes it clear that chat is separated by instance. Can chat be not separated by instance? to make it easier for people to talk and find groups?

and the "make groups with your guild" excuse is worthless, not all of us are good enough to be in active pve guilds, and those guilds anyway have strict schedules when they are online and do activities, guildies are not all the time available to do whatever content the rest wanna do.

How about a game wide auction/LFG channel. This channel would have it's own rule set. You can only post in it once every 5 min to keep it "relatively" spam free. This channel would only be used while in overland content. It could not be used while in BG's, PvP, Trials, Arenas, Dungeons or delves. Just an idea.

When I put pug group together from Craglorn I switch instances all the time. I ask few minutes in 1 instance and then port to someone in my guild who's in Craglorn. Sometimes I end up back to the same instance because the guildy was in the same as I was but with couple of ports I usually get another instance. You can tell if u see your group mates mark over their heads but not their toon. Then I ask there for few minutes and port to another instance. This fills group very quick.
Not sure about group finder for trials but some kind of instance wide chat would be nice to have.

I'm not sure on current instances caps or their total number, but I feel chat'd kind of be really overflooded if all the chats became one. Plus it'd be extremely difficult to differentiate between your and others instance - like, someone might call for help on WB, saying they already have 3 and need more, you go there and there's no one because you're in a different instance (grouping would solve that, but what if you don't wanna group, or are already in a group with someone else - should it really mean you cannot answer a call for help in zchat?). Likewise, trading with 'I'm right next to X wayshrinbe' would lead to endless frustration. Same goes for callouts such as M'aiq and other special spawns - they should be instance specific.

Perhaps some sort of separate non-zone non-instanced chat could help but I'm not sure just how flooded it would be and how much use it would be in that state (like, if there's a mesage there every second, I doubt you'd be able to find the one you actually need before it disappears). Groupfinder for arena and perhaps trial would be good though.

An LFG tool where people can advertise their own groups would be the obvious answer, most MMOs have them (in GW2 it's actually the only grouping tool, there is no dungeon browser). Don't ask me why ZOS thinks this shouldn't be implemented. Consoles?
I know I usually stick to groups advertised as 'slow', 'casual', 'for the quest' because they are most likely to be friendly. Anonymous group finders I stay away from if possible.

sad that this is happening, i was with my tank in zone and someone looked for a healers and dds, logged into my healer i couldn't see his message anymore or any other familiar name in zone either. Later today a group i was tank in, searched for 1 healer in zone for half an hour. I teleported to a guildie that was also in Craglorn, asked in zone for a healer, and the next second got a whisper.

why is it so bad to have a group finder for arenas or trials? or why not a lfg chat channel? at least per zone without instances separation

The game needs a random trial finder for normal content.
The game needs an activity finder where by players can list the activity they are doing and others players can join. Or you can list your yourself as LFG for whatever.
The game needs to better recognize the dungeon DLC difficulty disparity and separate the queues.

If you disagree or do not encourage this then you're foolish.

the game NEEDS the above. The game's community is NOT thriving and alive, it's a bumbling elites mess.

Instances should be more dynamic in that the despawn instances when population lower like early am. Also zone chat should cover all instances of the zone.

Right now instances only despawn after a server reset so might need 10 instances prime time but 1-2 in the morning.

why would we want more crap in zone chat? consolidating all the instances will mean nobody can read anything

zone chat is instanced like the zone to cause otherwise there to many players on the same zone so its only logical to instance it to if the players are also

Slightly off-topic but similar annoyance: even if you are grouped up and everyone is logged off...the next time you login you have a 50% chance being in the same phase/instance...even if you are in the same zone, and yeah...chat too. I know other MMO's like WoW use a "shard" of separate servers and you NEVER have an issue with having to "travel" to your friends or other players to see them, everyone is just there as they should be. Kinda weird and pretty annoying how ESO implements it tbh.

Seems the word "megaserver" is a bit of a misnomer and ESO essentially uses a shards system under that guise -- basically the difference here is "traveling" to a player is just another way of saying "Please wait while we transfer you to a different server (shard)".

i know zone chat would clutter of multiple messages, also like above specified you say something map related like a world boss and for others isn't the same. But this is why i asked, also above said already, for a LFG chat channel that is per zone regardless of instance, or a LFG trial or arena finder.
