Many of you might not even played Oblivion but many of you might have and I was one of them that was the game that introduced me to the Elder Scrolls after all. Some of you might know Elder Scrolls because of Skyrim and how that was a very successful product for Bethesda. You might think Eso is like Skyrim online or successor to Skyrim. In reality its really the successor to Oblivion. Development for Eso started in 2007, development for Skyrim started in 2008.
For some reason I strongly suspected next year will be Cyrodiil, its clear, now that next year will be in fact Cyrodiil and it will be the Year of the Imperials and by the looks of it,.
Zenimax did something on the pts, I'm wondering if this was an honest mistake, or to give hints to us. On first week of Pts, they had another chapter thing in the crownstore, though it had no icon or anything, it was called the Bad Lands but according to another thread, the French version translates to Dead Lands and if you know your Tes lore that is Mehrunes Dagon's plane of Oblivion.
Models for a unique kind of Daedra and Mehrunes Dagon have been datamined and in some way Dagon may play a role in next years storyline.
For those that don't know this Mehrunes Dagon has played as a major antagonist or has assisted the antagonists in Arena, Battlespire and Tes 4 Oblivion.
In Arena he might have aided Jager Tharn, in Battlespire he was behind the whole story there. Tes Oblivion is where Dagon's direct hand and invasion began assisted with a mad elf. As for Tes 4 Oblivion that seems to be where they are drawing next years themes from. The spoiler down below is basically the main themes and spoilers from Tes 4. Where next year will likely draw from, not only from the main stuff but potentially the dlc and expansion as well.
For a more gist of what TES 4 Oblivion was about, The Emperor and his three sons were assassinated, The Emp was voiced by Patrick Stewart and he basically does a pardon or allows you to be free. As you and his blades escape through the sewers you get separated then join back up then the Emperor gives the amulet and tells you to find his last son. Basically the deaths cause the dragonfires to weaken and go out.
Dagon's forces and allies the Cult of the Mythic Dawn then invaded causing the Oblivion Crisis that caused major destruction in Tamriel. The Mythic Dawn and Dagon's forces destroyed Kvatch you find the emps *** son Martin who was voiced by Sean Bean, and well basically closing Oblivion Gates and dealing with the Mythic Dawn and getting the amulet of kings back. Dagon is able to at the end fully enter Mundus, Martin sacrifices himself and seals the barrier between Mundus and Oblivion permanently to prevent something like that from happening again. Though Daedra can still manifest avatars and be summoned they can no longer mass invade or come to Tamriel in their true powerful forms.
Knights of the Nine, this was the dlc that introduced a Divine Centric storyline and introduced the Pelinal stuff, the main thing was retrieving the Divine Crusader Relics and helping the Ghosts of the of the Knights of the Nine priory, while also stopping Merida's Daedric Forces under the command of the half elf half divine, Umaril the Unfeathered. Though Merdia's direct involvement in these events is not clear. But her forces served under him and its unclear how involved Merida was with this story but I'd imagine she knew about it or maybe orchestrated it.
Then we had the Shivering Isles, the Hero becomes Sheogorath's champion and ends up ending the curse placed on Jyggalag and the Champion does this by taking Sheogorath's place and mantling the Prince. The hero doing what other's who attempted to Mantle Sheogorath had failed to do and that is defeat Jyggalag and by doing this ended the curse. Then the Sheogorath you meet in Skyrim is actually the former hero of Tes 4 and anyone that played this storyline would know that.
Its all but confirmed next year will be in Cyrodiil, we will be seeing Skingrad for sure, and I also suspect we will be seeing the University of Gwylim in game sometime next year as well. We will possibly be seeing both Bravil and Leyawiin as well.
So next year will be Imperial, and they did something that confirmed what I thought would happen if they were going to do a full Imperial theme. I strongly suspected that this year we would be seeing the Imperial version of the New Life because of my suspicions I had about next year. Turns out that came true as the pts has a new quest unique to them. So yes Imperials are indeed getting love for the New life festival and hopefully lots of love next year with the Cyrodiil content that is coming.
So are you guys excited for this? Are you guys ready for Tes 4 Nostalgia?
