Youre right it isnt. I have several chars, all of them lvl 50 and geared out.

But you know what is difficult and extremely time consuming?
    - Getting 110+ titles
    - Gathering 30k+ achievement points
    - Finding and reading 3k+ lorebooks
    - Learning the majority of style books
    - Learning 500+ furnishing plans
    - Researching every trait
    - Maxing out your mount
    - PvPing and lvling up your rank
    - Playing for almost 250 days (5959 hours!!!)

    pxEr0st.png

This character is my main, he is a nightblade. Unfortunatly I dont enjoy playing a NB anymore as much as I used to. Meanwhile I love playing my DK but even when I play him, I keep thinking about how I could be playing my main and the class I most enjoy (DK). However I cant, because theres no option to change class. Heck there arent even shared achievement points/motifs/furnishing plans/consumables.

So yes, while its easy to level up an alt-char, its not easy to re-do everything youve done on your main, its especially disheartening because I want to play that exact character. The character who unlocked his first in-game achievement the day the game was released. The character I share the most memories with. The character that I played for the most time.

Yes, I agree with OP, we need a class change.
However, the crown store sales would probably drop drastically if they had a class change token because then nobody would need to spend crowns on mount speed upgrades, skill lines, skyshards, and so on.
From a moneymaking point of view, this company would probably rather have people buy many tokens, upgrades, skill lines, etc. from the store than just one token to rule them all ;)
But I totally agree with OP: my main is a nightblade that I had since launch, did as much as I could with her. I have a special connection with that character. Yet, I would love to play as her being a warden instead, or maybe a templar or something DIFFERENT just for a change.
I don't have another 6 years of resources to get an alt character back up to where my main is, sadly.

Not everyone has the time or money to get all the skills and skyshards and whatnot from the crown store.
Some people don't even have jobs now, let alone a substantial enough income to spend money on crowns.
Those who do have jobs may not have the time to farm gold.
There are many reasons a person may not be able to just blow their real world money or time on the amount of crowns it would take to get all the skill lines, mount upgrades, skyshards, alliance ranks, etc that their main character had spent years to earn.
I have been on both subscribed and unsubscribed sides of the playerbase. While both are playable, there is a distinct difference between the inconveniences that non-eso+ members have to manage, whereas the eso+ members don't notice because they are paying for the conveniences that should be BASE LEVEL in this game.
I've been playing since launch and on both NA and EU pc servers.
I think I know what I am talking about :)

As much as I am all for options and being able to adjust anything... I don't think class change should exist. Many players would all revert to the flavor of the month with every patch. Which would create a really unfair situation for other classes. Players should stick to the class they choose, or simply respec one they already have.

Just enjoy pure gameplay with an alt, while getting all achievements with your main. Problem solved?

Oh and im sure like 99% that when you change your NB to any other class, in just a few weeks or even days, you want to return everything back. Cuz main is main. Main toon is for life.

Erm, but people do that anyway? If my main gets nerfed, I play an alt until the next performance update and re-evaluate. I still send new motifs / recipes etc to my main and treat him as my main, I simply play him less than I otherwise would have, again, until the next patch notes are released. He is still my main.

ZOS really does need to make the grind achievements account wide. Not necessarily the ones related to questing, or titles, but the grind ones, they are a chore and a burden that is preventing people from wanting to make alts.

For instance - Do 30 daily quests for Steve, should be 'Do 120 daily quests for Steve' but is measured account wide. Anything that constitutes a grind, should be account wide. Lore books too
    Standard - Account wide
Mages Guild - Only when you hit level 10
Skill books - Only when you max the skill
Achievement books - Ie HOF, not account wide
Motifs / Recipes - Class wide

You do realize all that defines a class are 3 skill lines, nothing more, it is already shown that you can remove Skill lines given how if you cure yourself of Vampirism or Lycanthropy you will lose the respective skill lines.

I roll an alt and last 5 minutes before the 0% mount speed (and the implications it has for all the other achievements I have to redo) kills the experience for me.

ZOS are losing out on a huge amount of longevity provided by alts because they lock tedious grinds to each character.

I have 18 characters and have never felt the need to class change. But I do understand others, like the OP, clearly do feel this sometimes and for that reason I agree that there should probably be a function to change class in the same way we can change race and name.

Tedious grinds? It takes 6 hours to get an alt to 50 and you can buy your skill lines and skill shards.

It may be unpopular opinion, but if class change to be implemented, it must come with severe limitations, or we might end up with 90% of population playing with single class after patch. It can be either exorbitant price, or time limit (like cooldown for 6 months between changes). But at some point, it should be implemented, because people sometimes want to change their playstyles completely, and regrinding everything from scratch is painful, boring, or at times, impossible. Some achievements can be made with certain classes only, due to poor balance, and if you have main that you absolutely love, but its class blocks you from getting end game achievements, class change could be a solution.

Off curse we don't need to solve these kinds of things with a class change token. What really is unecessarily convoluted and complicated (i.e. bad games design) is not having achievments, style motifs and other acquired skills be account wide.

It makes it so you need to think twice about what character you choose when your going for that nodeath-achievment (hmm what characters did i do speedrun on? "Sorry guys, i gotta change character, again, i think it was my sorc i used on HM"),

it makes it so you have to bank all your style pages, to check if your main character has learned it (i know, addons, not SoZ design, can alieviate that..),

It makes it so you have to throw that shiny new sword into the bank, to relog into your crafter, just so you can get the lowest cost on golding it out. then you have to log back.

This makes for a big portion of boring, non rewarding gameplay. Just a hassle. Part of what wears at least me out. Alot of other games have streamlined these kinds of things by going accountwide, paving the way for gameplay designed for mostly fun activities (wow, what a concept)! Might even keep costumers!

In other words, we dont need a class change token, we need a simpler more streamlined system. Not more clutter. Look at diablo 3, got that right 10+ years ago

@OP love your 1st post, very funny xD

    Also, 100% agree.
I've start on a Templar because when I started people told me it was the best to learn heal (and it was) and made a good 80% genral/overland/quest/DG achievement with him.
BUT, as an ex-Raider, I've never do trial with him cuz 90% of healer in this game are Templar so I had to play Heal in trial on whatever the team needed, because that how end game work thx to trash class balance.
So Most of my hardest HM no death and so achievement from vTrial and some vDG are on char like Healcro, healden and healsorc..

I want account shared achievement. Like most people I've a life and no time at all to do them all in an other char.
But still would take the class token if we got it, tired of Templar, once you get good that the most boring healing class to play imho.

Other than the riding lessons and PVP rank due to the skill points it provides, how does any of what you have listed affect your ability to enjoy your Dragonknight, gameplay wise?

Does not having all your titles, achievement points, all your reading done, styles learned, furniture plans on hand, traits researched in any way prevent you from killing other players in PVP or doing any PVE content in the game at all?

Does any of that prevent you from leveling your new character up getting all the relevant skill lines leveled for your builds combat style and hunting enough skill points down to have everything you need to be combat ready?

Hell with the option to buy skyshards and skill points its faster than ever to get alts ready if your prepared to waste money on it and they are the biggest reason you won't get a class change token, if you could just swap your class on the one character all of those sources of income would become useless to ZOS since they have the same target customer in mind as the kinda people who want a class change token.

If you were able to switch your class to whatever happens to be the current flavor of the month class, when exactly would you ever be wasting money again to unlock more skyshards or re buy the skill lines again?

Thats what I did, but it lasted only for 2 days just because of how different the playstyles are. Then you also have key skills like fiery breath, chains and leap (etc.) missing which make the DK unique. I simply couldnt copy/recreate the playstyle and feel of another class.

The problem is if did play on my DK and got an achievement which is hard to get, I need to redo it on my main and the "progress" doesnt count on the char Ive done most of it already.
For example I hadnt done the new Stonethorn Dungeons on my Main, however I did them on my DK and even got the Speedrun achievement in a PuG. Then I had to re-do them on my Main just because I didnt want to miss out on them and getting the Speedrun with a random PuG was more difficult/took longer.

So basically the issue is that nothing I do on my DK will carry over to my Main which in return means having to redo everything on my Main.. which again is very time consuming and consumer unfriendly.

Why would you need to? If you want a character to play "just for a change", why does it have to have everything that your main has?

Class change tokens wouldn't be a one-off thing, they'd be a never-ending cycle of purchases. Change Class A to Class B with a token, Class A gets buffed so you need a token to change back, then Class A gets nerfed again while Class C gets buffed so you need a token to change to Class C which then gets nerfed while Class D is buffed, and so on ad infinitum. Then a new class is introduced and everyone buys a token to change to that at max level without bothering to level through the class and learn what it's all about. Meanwhile everyone runs around with Class A characters, then Class B characters, then Class C characters and so on... No-one bothers to play the game any more, they just switch classes for the one bit of the "endgame" they play before complaining that there's nothing to do. And if anyone thinks ZOS make too many adjustments to the classes now, just wait until they can sell Crown Store tokens every time they tweak the classes, there'll be no limit to the class adjustments.

Be careful what you wish for!

While I agree that a shared Achievement/Motif/Furnishing/Consumables System would fix this issue, I dont see them doing that.
ZoS already implemented crown store purchases of Skyshards and Skilllines which would fall away if we ever did get shared achievements.

However I could see how a main/alt - parent/child System could work. ZoS could implement a System in which you choose a character to become your main/parent character (this happens only once). This character gets every achievement youve collected on all of your other characters. Meanwhile your other characters become the children. They dont get the achievements your main/parent has but if you unlock an achievement on one of your alts/children it also gets unlocked on your main/parent. Same goes for motifs/furnishing and others consumables.
Its basically a one-way street. Parent/main gets it all.
