Vampire feeding range- Why only far away?

Hi.

Because i tried the new vampires right after they were added in Greymoor, i do know we have a nice feeding animation when you start feeding from right behind the target. It looked like a "real" vampire feeding wher4e you attack the target and really bite its neck instead this..... Far fetched far away far out blood flying in the air animation we had from the beginning which for me, looks rather stupid(Though brutal and i understand many also like it).

I do know, that the reason is to make using blade of woe easier to use, but thats just an excuse and really a waste of perfectly good animation which is way better and well done than this current one.

Like in Vampirtes woe addon, where you get a keybind that lets you toggle between blade and vampire, ZOS could implement this as a core feature in the game, though for consoles the lack of buttons would be a problem. Consoles really limit the possibilities of games development in many ways you know...

In any case, the character could jump the target from current distance and then use the biting animation instead of the flying blood animation.. That way we could have the better way though i would prefer the range besane on blade of woe and vampire feed and just be able to toggle between them to use that one...

TLDR: We have a nice biting animation for vampire feed and i want it back. Now.

No not really. The real question is why did ZOS go the easy way instead of making it work with the nice new animation we had for a while. It worked for that point and while it was noot THAT convenient with blade pf woe, it worked well enough to keep it. Only real improvment would have been yo make toggle a core feature or to have a range toggle to make it work like now whi8ch player could choose from setting for example if the short range was not convenient OR they could have made the range only being increased IF we had the blade of woe taken as well. Current way is just bad designm choice which needs improvment.

It's stupid and annoying having to have this sweet spot not too close and not too far away. Just dumb.

Yeah. That too. I have come upon perfect prey on my travels today only to find out, that they are in such place that you have to be too close to to them so the feed wont work and if you try to get far enough, theres a wall that prevents this... The people of Tamriel are abusing us vampires now :(

Happy to lend them a blade though as a thanks... :F

Also annoying that you have to be at the same elevation as the target. Too high up or too far down and you'll be unable to get them. Having to wait for them to move or run along the side of whatever hill they're on has gotten very annoying.

Instead of fixing the problem of feed and blade of woe being very close together they made the problem worse.

Yeah. This annoys me too. There should be a toggle in settings to prioritize either Woe or Feeding.

Another option (and my preference actually) would be to make feeding/woe into active skills. Give them their current effect if used outside of combat, but then a different one if used in combat. In combat feed could just be the vampiric drain skill, and the blade of woe could be a class agnostic execute ability.

indeed. I actually loved it, when the vampire feeding was usable in combat pre re-vamping vamps. When in battle with a friend, eone of us used to feed on the enemy while other was killing it. It may not have been so efficient or fast, but it sure was fun imagining them being paralyzen due feeding and being aware that they are being slain.. Those ***.

Having those as active ability would be interesting though. I thought that too, but for my personal tastes there are too few action bar slots allready for all the nice skills and spells we have and that would mean taking 2 of them away having nlade and feed on my action bars... Though i would STILL preferr vampire drain to have that stun it had before during the drain, not after and only against NPC enemies, not for PVP though. In any case thats not a topic for this discussion.

Ny preference would be similar to what Vampires woe addon currently does. To have a toggle button much like weapon swap but for blade of woe/Vampire feed/Possible future additions that work like that.

One interesting option would also be to have them as ultimate skills. Working like they do now outside combat. No cooldowns or ultimate costs but in combat, would have altered effects, maybe a finisher move and have cooldowns and cost.

I thought about that "too many skills" thing too... but I don't think it would rally be an issue. You wouldn't have to have them on your bar all the time if you didn't want to use them. Swapping a single skill to feed or for when you want to do stealth kills for DB content isn't that hard. And if the skills are useful enough... like say if BoW was an execute that any class could use or Feed doubled as Drain (and brought up to spammable standards), you could easily make room for them while you wanted to use them.

You never use Feed or BoW in group content anyways, and any solo content is easy enough to still do even if the skills are subpar (though it would be nice if they were on par with other viable class independent skills), especially if the two were an execute and a spammable.
