The 9-Trait Crafter Dilemma

This is my general rule, craft up to the mats given. If they want more then they have to give more mats. I ask if they can upgrade or if they want me to and let them know what material is need to upgrade to whatever they want.

Now that said I have made numerous set for new players completely free.

I craft only for guildies and tell them in advance that items I make are free (unless nirn weapons) but they need to upgrade and enchant the things themselves.

No dilemma, you don't give Kutas away for free to randoms. Guild mates yes, friends etc obviously as you wish but random folks want stuff or are paying for crafting then they need to sent mats.

Or settle for Purple
