Light Attacks/Heavy Attacks scale with highest offensive stat

It's currently on the PTS forums. However I'd like to see this discussed more here as well. If this is true, then it would be a game changer for me. I'd like to be able to use the weapon of my choice and still gain the resource of my choosing. This completely opens up the game if true? Anyone else on PTS confirm?

I think only the damage scales with the higher offensive stat.

High-Health Tanks are going to benefit in terms of the amount of damage they can do.

Just think how this will impact those tanky-builds with lots of health in PVP though :s

Hp is not annoffensive stat so no worries on that part.

We re waiting whether melee weapon light heavy attacks will do magic damage or not? (Cp scaling)

Whether they ll arrangebweapın line skill passives accordingly? ( to many drawbacks atm for using a melee weapon/ losing staff passives)

the way i read the change is that the "tooltip" dmg will scale with either max, but the damage type will likely remain the same, so for example dw daggers will still do physical dmg even if the character has higher max mag/spell dmg (just more physical dmg than before as a mag spec using physical weapons)

I'm assuming weapons will continue to return their corresponding resource. As in staves return magicka on heavy attack, and physical weapons return stamina.

Does anyone have a link to that thread? I can't seem to find it again.

I on the other hand don't think it will work that way.

It would be silly for it to remain a physical attack.

Logically, I am under the assumption that it will be spell damage, just like staff light attacks, and thus will be affected by spell damage, spell pen, +magic damage, etc.. If it's not, then it seems like an oversight that will be fixed.

But I guess we will have to see.

seems like theyll basically mimic how ultis scale with whatever your highest stat is, so like dawnbreaker currently -can- scale with max mag/spell dmg, but will still do physical type dmg, be buffed by physical based cp, etc
id also assume theyre not gonna go that far into the coding to change the resource heavies return either

I had that thought to and hope someone tests out my theory in the PTS feedback thread.

I honestly hope that is not the case, but I'll explain:

For RP, I would want it to convert to spell dmg, and I would love for there to be a visual difference, like a glowing arrow trail, or a glowing blade when you swipe.

For builds, however... I would not want my bow dmg to convert to and scale from spell dmg just because I have max magicka. That would completely undo my medium armor passives, which are better than light armor passives imo.

My hope is that your damage with a bow, for example, still scales based off your weapon dmg stats, the only difference being that added scaling factor will come from your max magicka, as opposed to it previously scaling further based on stamina.

I really love this change and hope it makes it to live, as its a wonderful step towards supporting hybrids. I would hope to see all skills eventually scale from your max offensive resource.
