Can't Drop Off Relic

Sometimes I manage to bring the relic to our base but for some reason can't drop it off. For example, yesterday I caused my team to lose because I couldn't drop off 2 relics out of 3 I brought (dropped off the first relic without any issue). There was even a moment when both me and another team member brought relics at the same time and neither of us could drop them off at our base. Am I doing something wrong? Is there an objective that needs to be fulfilled? Is it a bug?

It's relic at home required to score. Otherwise it would be a to much of a race, with little emphasis of defense.“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”1
