Ray Tracing is just the next big tech gimmick that is completely unnecessary and not worth the performance hit it causes. That DLSS thing on the other hand.

At the moment Ray Tracing is a gimmick. When the mainstream card can handle it, it won't be. Just like how the majority of cards in use can now utilise DX12, when the same can be said about Ray Tracing, games will likely be made entirely with Ray Tracing in mind. It is actually easier to use as you don't have to set up lighting everywhere, and clearly looks much better. The 30 series card can handle it quite well now, 3-4 years from now, it'll just be a given as all cards can handle it.

I don't see any urgency now to support Ray Tracing at this stage, unless its in pipe line for consoles, it'd just be a bonus option for PC, for the few with Ray Tracing cards.

I look at those pictures and see NO difference at all......

The joys of getting old and crappier eyesight, we recently switched off all our HD TV channels, to save a bit of money and because tbh we couldn't see any difference!! >:)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

It's not too wild to think they might add it as part of their next gen feature set. Especially if they want to keep that crown store pumping until TES6 releases  They're going to need to raise their game's visuals if they want to compete next gen.

There might be a chance for it to be implemented when they port the game to the new generation of consoles. I'd be curious to see how gorgeous the game could look with it.

Problem I have with shaders is it seems like they just bleed the color from surrounding objects. Ex. A dark rock near snow gets white bled onto it when that’s not how things work or should work.

I like things to look crisp and detailed, not like my colors were hit with a fuzz brush.
