Can we please turn off the belching in towns etc... seems like everywhere I run in built up areas somebody (NPC) is belching their head off.
It's funny the first couple of times, then it just gets annoying.

Well that is the pretty much how it should be.
In medieval civilization setup, they were pretty nasty bunch.
Dirty streets with merchants, commoners, drunks and beggars belching and farting all around.

Also, I don't think you can see Nirn as a complete copy of the real world. Might be partially the case with some human races (Breton, Nord), but other cultures of Tamriel differ from the traditions of Medieval Europe a lot. @Syldras | PC | EU

The painting was used just as graphical representation, since it is from late 17th century, that is fine, I believe that Medieval Europe peasantry would be even worse than on that painting, so not a big miss there

As an alternative you could just simply turn down or mute your sound when near towns yeah? Not really fair to inconvenience others that aren't offended by such minuscule things and DO find humor and a laugh from it. Try that perspective sometime instead of trying to cater things to your liking.
Also, medieval fantasy game may not be the right fit for you?
