Just posting this here because I've been thinking about the events...
I no longer look forward to them. I log in and participate because I have to, to get the event exclusive items.
They are always the same: Go to event person > accept quest > turn in quest > repeat. These quests are also always the same. There is only so many times I can do one repeatable and then eventually get fed up of it and not want to do it again. I really wish there was more variety, or different things to do each time the event rolls around.
Another thing that bothers me is that outside of the little tent with the event NPCs, it's as if nothing is happening.... I wish that towns and cities, maybe even some roads, would have decorations on them, lights, bows, ribbons, balloons, music, firework displays.. anything?! Just so the world isn't devoid of holiday joy outside of that little event tent.
It would be like having Christmas IRL only celebrated in one random field. No lights on houses, no people dressed up singing songs, nothing.
As a little addon to this, it would be nice for NPCs to wear event themed hats/outfits, and have NPCs spawn in towns/cities/roads celebrating (like how you'd walk past those 3 guys in Skyrim celebrating with Honningbrew). Then it would really feel like an event is going on.
It would also be nice to have an in-game calendar that we can open up. There they could put in when the next events will happen. And they could even include lore based holidays on the specific days they would be celebrated (they could add decorations and such to this too, or just encourage the community to celebrate this with each other on the side, without an official event or anything. An example would be if they put Hearts day on the calendar on the 16th of Sun's Dawn.
The holidays based in lore can be found in detail here:

In TESV Skyrim, the
Holidays mod is essential for me to have installed. I absolutely love having these holidays in the game, with NPCs celebrating and decorations added. It made me plan around to visit specific places on my travels just so I could participate and see the lovely lights and decorations. I just feel like it would be great to have these holidays and others in the lore represented in ESO. There are race/region/religion specific holidays that could be celebrated in the appropriate area of Tamriel, since we have a lot of the map to visit and explore.
My favourite in the Skyrim mod was always the Festival of Lights in Dawnstar. A very simple thing: candles placed on the shoreline for a night. It was beautiful, and I loved it.
*The in-game calendar I think would make the most sense to follow the IRL passage of time. Even though visually a few days may pass for a 1 day holiday I wouldn't mind (and am sure others wouldn't) so that it ensures we get the opportunity to visit the holiday location that day, and not miss the window during 6hr in game day. The calendar could also display English/French/German/etc dates or maybe a Tamrielic option you can toggle if you want your IRL month names to read as TES versions.
It would also be great to have more engaging events and celebrations for RPers to celebrate with each other

*Maybe we could even earn decoration housing items, or have holiday furniture packs available to purchase in the crown store. These could be available when an event is active and be related to that event, and on lore holidays (eg, a Hearts Day/New Life/Festival of Lights/etc furniture pack on the correct day) so we can decorate our houses with flags/banners/lights/balloons/etc for that particular holiday/event. Would be nice to earn some through completing quests related to that event/holiday, or buying them from a merchant in the cities for gold.
I don't know how others feel about this, but events are kind of depressing to me now. Like I said, I participate because I
have to... not because I want to... and that's sad.
Just a summary list of how I think the events could be improved:
- Decorations in towns/cities and along roads (balloons, music, lights, ribbons, fireworks, bows, flags, buffet tables, cake, etc)
- Event NPCs (dressed up in towns/cities and along roads. Also NPCs that celebrate spawning in towns/cities and along roads that you can walk past or interact with)
- Event calendar (detailing up coming events and including lore holidays, with encouragement to celebrate these too)
- More varied quests to do (not just the same 5 repeatables every single time to do over and over and over and over.....)
- New things to do each time the event rolls round (sort of similar to the above point. Adding different quests alongside the previous ones next time it comes around)
- Lore holidays represented (similar to point about event calendar. These holidays could be encouraged in the appropriate area of Tamriel)
- Holiday/event decoration furniture (event/holiday related decorations available for purchase from vendors for gold/earned doing quests/purchased through crown store so we can decorate our houses for the occasions)
