When Stealing Goes Too Far

I thought about this earlier today and was curious to find out if anyone else has reservations about stealing from certain locations/homes/people in Tamriel.

For me I refuse to steal from Tanulldel's House in Shimmerene, Summerset. I'll put the location below since people might want to go see why.
S5HqOc0.png

But basically the house is in disarray, it's messy and there is broken containers everywhere. When you get upstairs you can see Tanulldels status as a civil servant and he's just in his big empty house with his skinny dog. It makes me think he was one of the good High Elves who wanted to welcome people to his wonderful city and instead he was betrayed by the other more opinionated elves and that's his new life.

So yeah anyone have locations like that?

Not a location, but I refuse to pickpocket beggars. Just seems so wrong.

But when you pick them and they have treasure worth 100-250...leads me to think they just park their rare apex mount around the corner and act like a beggar just to get free money. Then when they are done for they day they hop on said rare apex mount and ride back to their grand psijic villa...to do it all again the next day and fool the poor sap of a player out of their hard earned money.

So yeah..I pick picket beggars lol.

Actually I use Blade of Woe for "knocking" people out when I steal. So in my mind Blade of Woe is a nockout weapon, not a murder weapon. Especially when you see the people a few minutes later.

Yeah, that animation of 2 stabs in the liver and one slit across the throat is "just knocking out", they just need to sleep it over and drink a lot of fluids :#

They just drop to the floor on their own

This one is also my favorite, especially if it's an npc that a. says annoying things while my char is trespassing, or b. has already caught him pickpocketing (so annoying...)

So, on topic... As I have detailedly in mind who my chars are, it really depends on their background and personality how they abide by the law. With some, I steal and murder, with some I never will.

And even when stealing or killing, it really depends if they have a reason to do so. Does that char steal ruthlessly to gain a fortune or is he dirt poor and steals out of necessity? The former would steal from a beggar, than latter wouldn't. I've also come across a really miserable looking house once (I'm not sure if it was in Shimmerene, because it's some time ago) where I just left without taking something.

Generally, I don't use the Blade of Woe that often anymore. My main's assassin days are long since over. ...Okay, I have to admit, he had to kill someone not that long ago. An Ashlander. Who stared at his pet Vvardvark, probably thinking of eating it! He had to do something about it, right? Probably counts as self-defense?

I only steal from thieves and other criminals. For example, Irgeikka in Alinor, who is a lookout for the local outlaws refuge, Senamu-daro in the Kvatch tavern, shady persons in Abah's Landing, etc. I also steal from the Thieves Troves, which I consider as stealing from the Guild itself.
