Vet dungeon viable but RP feeling builds

Hey! I've been playing ESO on and off for a while, but now that I've gotten several friends to play with me I'm finally able to get into it more deeply. I've seen some nice forum discussion threads, so I figured someone here may be able to help me.

I've tried out many builds on several classes and they all felt somewhat lackluster to me. I came from WoW, so I have a hard time getting used to bar swapping (even though I'm used to waaay more than 10 key binds) and animation cancelling. I've been looking at some solo builds by Hack the Minotaur, Dooma and Alcast (though his are a bit advanced) and while I love the RP aspects and the feel, they're just not that great for dps and group content.

I'd like a build that combines the following:

- easy and simple rotation: I'm not that comfortable with ESO's combat yet, so I'd like something simple
- as many class skills as possible: looking at some guides it makes me feel there's very little variety in stam builds
- decent dps potential: I like the challenge of DLC vet dungeons, me and my friends used to do a lot of mythic+ in WoW, so we definitely want to run vet dungeons
- ability to solo without a respec (gear, skill and food changes are fine, ofc)
- preferably a Necromancer (love the visuals and flavor), sorc or warden also good, don't like templar
- not using trial sets, since I won't be doing those

Stamina or magicka are both fine, my necro is a dark elf so I can do both :) I don't expect I'll be doing 100k dps with a 1 bar EZ mode build, but something that's viable for vet dungeons would be great. Vampire would be awesome, cause a necro isn't edgy enough on its own, but not necessary.

Let me know if I'm looking for a unicorn though!

You could just use 2 pet magsorc. Crystal frags, deadric prey, force pulse or elemental weapon front bar. Wall of elements, beast trap or channeled acceleration and orb or a shield backbar. And of course the 2 pets on both bars. Rotation is super easy. Cast wall of elements, prey, spam force pulse and cast crystal frags when they proc. For gear mother sorrow and julianos are both dirt cheap and super easy to get. Especially if you go for the wrong trait on mother sorrow. Other option is stamplar "ooga booga jab stronk" build.

Thanks! I've been looking at the pet build, yeah. Seems super strong for both solo and groups, which I like. I've got a wood elf sorc, which is unfortunately pretty bad for this build, but I do have all of these sets (necropotence as well). I may race change into a dark elf so the character can be more versatile. I also really like the proc playstyle, seems pretty unique for ESO.

I really want to make the necromancer work though, so any suggestions on that would be super appreciated! I've tried a couple "solo" necro builds and while I found soloing normal base game dungeons really easy I usually hit a wall in DLC or vet dungeons. I figured that since I don't enjoy the "meta" play-style I'd try to solo as much as I can so I don't slow down my group with my 1-bar or RP build shenanigans.

Coming from WoW I'm still a sucker for high dps numbers though...

Necro is really strong and also uses the most class skills then any other class. Only downside is unlike petsorc it has a lot of buttons to press. Its rotation is built around blastbones which you cast every 2-3 skills. Rest of the skills are dots/necro minion that you have to upkeep. Also necro has a really strong spammable in the form of skull and aslo the best ulti in the game. All in all necro is one of the strongest classes in the game both mag and stam and also very flavorful. Tho its also high up there in terms of complexity. Imo play what you enjoy, the combat will "click" eventually and also even if you do less dps than you would with a sorc at the start, it doesnt matter since all group will want a necro with them thanks to the colossus. Both for dungeons and trials.

Emotional Vampire Heavy Metal 2h/2h Goth Gurlfren.

Just did a Nord (it's a goth gurlfren so has to be a Nord for me, your Dunmer will be just fine too) 2h/2h ult generation stamcro in light of some upcoming patch changes, specifically Dead-water guile set and the 2h Stampede skill. I have gotten tired of the fantasy land bows shooting multiple arrows at once in ESO on all my other stam dps. Could work for what you are trying to do, very fun. Will not top dps, but will kill anything you need to kill and will do vet content find, can be reconfigured to a tank with different gear... Nords are special that way.

Dead-water's guile jewelry and 2h on main damage bar, purple jewelry can be hard to find because no dolmens in murkmire, but blue is fine. This sets give extremely high ultimate as long as you are hitting all the applicable mobs/adds with aoe, and you will be. Leviathan on the body pieces is an easy to get high crit set from Crypt of Hearts, Briarheart is a strong option from Wrothgar, pricy in divines. Maelstrom 2h from Maelstrom arena which you can get from normal making it relatively easy to get compared to the past.

Maelstrom 2h back bar, blastbones, stampede (getting an initial dmg tick on hit next patch), necrotic potency, spirit guardian, rally, Colossus.

Dead water 2h on main bar, skulls, archer, beast trap, exploding siphon, camo hunter, Dawnbreaker, I use flawless, either is fine. Quite a bit of dmg and execute crit on this bar from fighters guild and necro gravelord skills. On higher content switch in beckoning armor for archer.

Sellestrix monster set, immensely fun, very easy to get. In harder content can switch to bogdan nightflame, also pretty easy to get, your spirit guardian will proc it very frequently.

Stampede aoe ticks ten times, admittedly less than hail and smaller radius but also reapplies the maelstrom 2h buff when it ticks, making it quite a bit better than it seems on first glance. Keep stampede up every 8-10 seconds and fine. Other dots are barbed trap/beast trap, archer... not technically a dot but similar enough, siphon. Spammable is skulls, which works great when not at range.

I know you said one bar, but this is very easy to use, keep rally and spirit up from back bar, throw blastbones, then stampede. Switch bars, then keep archer, barbed trap, siphon up, throw some skulls and weave LAs in, then switch back and blastbones, stampede. You will be generating a large amount of corpses also, so keep up necrotic potency one siphon has used on corpse, necrotic is a huge heal with so many corpses, let alone adds or trash packs.

    Good luck!

Fun summon/storm based competitive stamina sorc dps build:

Relequen body (normal trial is easy to farm, no reason you can't get this), Aegis Caller front bar, Stormfist monster set, MA Bow backbar preferred, but you can go double melee Aegis Caller if you want. Stampede as substitute for Endless Hail.

If you're absolutely apposed to stepping into Cloudrest normal for Relequen, you can replace it with any number of solid damage sets, but a fun summon themed crafted set could be Morkuldin. Matches a templar theme more, but the best I could think of. (Gold summoned sword that fights for you for 15s).

Every set is wind/storm based, very aoe heavy, but strong relequen single target dps. Minor slayer is covered. Competitive dps while using fun themed sets that match the class really well.

Aegis Caller and Stormfist have 129 stam regen each for total of 258. This much regen over damage stats like 129 weapon damage or 833 crit would be bad, but If you find you normally need Dubious Cameron Throne or Artaeum Takeaway Broth which gives about 310 stamina regen and 3kish stam/hp, you can switch your food to max hp/stamina for about 5kish of each when using these 2 sets and probably sustain fine, especially with 2h.

The difference in 2k hp/stamina makes up for the lack luster stamina regen traits on the 2 sets to some degree for dps while also making you a little tankier. This is what Redguard and Woodelves do to remain competitive with Orcs, since they start with more sustain, they typically use bi-stat food over tri-stat regen foods.

Khajiit would be a perfect middle ground because they get 85 stamina regen to cover the 50 or so gap you'd have from switching to bi-stat food with these 2 sets. They're also pretty nice since stam sorcs use crit surge a lot, which relies on crits to heal, the heal itself can crit too, Khajiits will buff that crit healing by 10%.

Bound Armaments: Double slotted. The ability requires proper weaving and you'd need to cast it every 4th skill to get max dps and sustain on stam sorc. Well worth it if you can learn it. If not, you can double slot Bound Armaments just for passives.

Unstable Clanfear: Double slotted too, the ability requires no effort, just free damage and an on demand magicka burst heal of 35% health (can crit).

The rotation is easy if you're not using BA with room for improvement if you do. Clanfear takes up some slots meaning less skills to cast. Only 6 slots remain. Endless Hail + Hurricane are musts, about 14s long and can be cast back to back on your back bar making it super easy to follow.

This patch (update 27 - August 24th 2020) stam sorcs will get their own unique spammable with Crystal Weapon, helping with personal sustain, your group by providing 1k armor penetration to targets and 6% spell crit, while also healing for 10% of your health.

The dps may be a little less (-5% to -10% depending on your weaving proficiency) vs Rapid Strikes/Wrecking Blow, but the overall utility makes it worth it.. along with the fact that it's just fun to use class spammables over generic ones. Unfortunately you'd need to know how to light attack weave well for the skill to function as it only fires off on light attacks like Crushing Weapon from Psijic Order.

Slot, Barbed Trap (can line up well with 14s backbar rotation if you want to make it easier), weapon dot, execute, maybe Crit Surge or Dark Deal if you need them. Streak/Ball of Lightning for pvp or general fun if you have a flex spot still. Slot Greater Storm Atronach back bar(allowing you to get the 20% hp/stam regen passive if you don't want to use Clanfear or double bar BA) and anything you want front bar, most likely Dawnbreaker for 3% weapon damage, but any Sorc ult for 2% weapon damage is a good option.

Dual Wield and Whirling Blades feels right on stam sorc, the animation feels like you're swirling wind around you, but 2H is easier to sustain because of 30% stam regen and cheaper execute skills. Comes down to preference.

For a magicka necromancer, I'm building a luch theme that revolve around 3 proc sets, I'm still trying to get them so no promeses. Neirathan monster set, caluurion legacy on weapons and jewlery because of long cooldwon, and bahraha curse on body.

For stamina necromancer, azure blight on body, either plague slinger or syvra scale and maarselok monster set.

My storm Ruler and I use the most, stamsorc using storm fist monster set, aegis caller on weapons or body which ever you prefer, for my personal rotation, I use ut on weapons, it only work on melee attacks so no bow stuff. Last set is leviathan (adancing yokeda and tzovgin are better). You can use markuliden or relequen instead of leviathan, it makes the perfect theme for Storm Ruler, but it will lower your surviavbiliy as critical surge is your main heal. Never forget to toss you greater storm atronach, the AOE morph is best for this set up imo.

Second best is my stamina dragonknight, validrth/valkyn skoria monster set, venomous smite, and pillar of nirn.

Frostfire warden, ice furnace set, winterborn/icy conjuror, and valkyn skoria monster set.

I did most of DLC dungeons achievments with my Storm Ruler, and frostfire and stamina dragonknight (I can't figure out a proper name for the build), I also was able to solo the newset world bosses of new skyrim zone as well as the horrowstorms.

Most DLC dungeons are very hard to solo, you would need perfect understand of mechanics. Don't veat your self because you cannot kill a boss in Vet DLC dungeons, heck, wayrest sewers 1 last boss is very diffecult to handle and sometimes she can 1 shot you randomly. Also, some dungeons reqiure more than 1 player for certain mechanics.

Vile Archer - Nightblade or Necro

This is a build I've been playing a couple years now, and it feels really buffed this patch, especially on a Nightblade.

    Sets for this patch:

Swamp Raider + Veledrith + Mechanical Acuity (best for clearing trash mobs) or New Moon

Swamp Raider is really nice this patch since your whole front bar is poison or disease damage. After trying it last night I gotta say it's fun to see things melt that much faster. Tzogvin just takes too long to proc now, so it's back to Mechanical Acuity for the Nightblade. New Moon is still one of the strongest, although resources drain faster. The build relies a bit on Acid Spray to quickly clear vast crowds of mobs, which is expensive, so I was using Vicious Ophedian until my Nightblade suddenly acquired the ability to siphon off resources from every kill last night. On a Dunmer Necro you would likely need to eat sustain food, but a Dunmer Nightblade could be fine with max stat food. With the revised sets equipped it's borderline OP, but I'm not complaining.

    Front bar (Mechanical Acuity bow)
Relentless Focus or Blastbones / Acid Spray / Lethal Arrow / Expert Hunter / Killers Blade or Detonating Siphon / Incapacitating Strike or Pestilent Colossus

    Back Bar (Maelstrom Bow)
Vigor / Endless Hail / Dark Shade or Skeletal Archer / Barbed Trap or Channeled Acceleration / Flex Spot / Ballista or Pestilent Colossus

The Necro and Nightblade archer have a similar feel, now the dark shade can be pre-summoned and will follow you around. Nightblade can be maximized in close quarters combat but still deals decent damage from a distance, and it works better with good light attack weaving, but you'll want to weave light attacks on any archer to build up Hawk Eye stacks.

@MudcrabAttack I made a similarly themed build on my stamDK.
    • Swamp Raider body
    • Morag Tong Jewels and Head/Shoulder
    • Blackrose Bow Front-Bar
    • Maelstrom Bow Back-Bar

The Blackrose Bow might raise eyebrows since it's better known for PvP but if the initial Magnum Shot is a Critical Hit then you can get 12-15k ticks from it and it will way outclass a monster hat.
