The year of the Vampire is great with lore but did the vampire skilline injustice. :(

This year has done a lot of great things for vampires lorewise. But gameplay wise, they did some cool things. But the issue is it goes counter to everything expected of a skill line within an mmo and refuses to take into account the unique play style of Eso. Now I do respect the efforts the devs made and the idea behind a rework.

My opinion it seemed to be balanced before but the biggest the issue was the following issues. It was to desirable because of the Supernatural recovery passive, and there was really no point in feeding at all . By inverting it it requires one to be more a vampire and become more a vampiric life style but in trying to change that they failed to take into the account players will take up the skill line because its useful to them this is an mmo after all.
The biggest problems with the new vampire and the rework are the following.
1. Too many weaknesses compared to benefits.
2. Abilities are not useful enough.
3. There was an attempt to make a vamprirc style and it also happens to go against everything a Tes Vampire is. A Tes vampire enhances the magical and prowess of a vampires existing skill set or can. It does not weaken it and nor is the Vampire a lycanthrope.

Weaknesses-Tes Online is really punishing on this and with the new rework its really punishing. The following down below is the greatest draw backs that I know of.
2. Ability Cost Weakness.
2.No Health regen at all at Stage Four.
3.Your vampiric abilities can and will get you killed. Vampiric abilties should not put any vampire at risk of true death. Blood Frenzy thus goes against everything it means to be a vampire do to this fact. Now a vampire ability prevents you from being healed by anyone for 5 seconds. That is another suicidal thing. That makes that morph not worth it.
4.Fighters Guild doing extra damage to player vampires.
5.Prismatic enchantments being deadly to Player vampires.
6.Fire Weakness.
7.Abilities are way to weak, Vampiric Drain is not the old Drain and the damage is so bad and the healing coming from it is not as great as the old one making this a trash ability. The other one was far more useful.

Benefits
1.Being able to run invisible and in pvp can come in handy.
2.Extra Weapon and spell damage.
3. Undeath is somewhat useful. But the Drawbacks are way to high.

There is no vampiric play style with the vampire abilties alone that is viable.
The abilities I can see being useful that are useful in some builds would be the following.
1.Blood Scion useful for the extra resources and the bats
2.Mist Form, still great for certain playstyles and its togglable.
3.Even in its nerfed state, Eviscerate/Blood for blood. Though the biggest issue is not being healed by allies. Using it would require a good deal of self healing sustainability which isn't too much of a thing to do since people do build for this. But for the most part most people might not bother. The Other morph should be given something to make it more desirable.
4.Vampiric Drain is trash compared to the old and better off using something else.
5.Blood Frenzy I know this can give a bit of power for a more powerful attack but its such a high cost as its a suicide button if one is not careful. It also goes against everything it means to be a vampire because vampires are not out to kill themselves. You don't see any vampire npcs using this ability.
6.Hypnotic gaze is good for well interacting with certain merchants in stage four. But not the best stun out there as it requires targets to be in front of you and there is other stuns that do a better job.
So gist of it all

1.To many weaknesses.
2.Not enough benefits.
3.its more of a curse then a blessing.
4.It weakens you literally.

I just hope that they can go back and address these things and this should be addressed because this is the type of thing that will drive players away.

For sell ability of this year, and the whole idea of being this vampire vestige out to deal with the Gray Host its like whats the point in being a vampire and I see people sayings its pure trash now and that they have ruined it. It saddens me that this has happened to the Skill line. The greatest feature of the year being a better and more truer vampire and having that ruined by the way it was handled. So Vampire is not desired at all for anything. Making the entire rework and all the work put into it pointless.

The Devs said we would be this powerful vampire and yet I don't see it at all. :(

Reading that kinda bums me out. On a positive note, you did an excellent job on your write up!!! Good work!!
~There’s a positive in every negative. Sometimes the positive is harder to find than other times, but there is ALWAYS one there~

I also remember when they said the vampire abilities would allow us to be any kind of vampire we wanted, yet they completely cut stamina builds out with no stamina morphs. This honestly came as a surprise for people like me in the beginning because even though I play almost exclusively with magicka builds why would a claw swipe not have a stamina morph? Then they have abilities that give weapon damage and max stamina which makes you scratch your head and wonder what they're doing.

There is so much wrong with the vampire skill line but there are many different ways to fix it. At the end of the day what makes the vampire skill line ultimately bad is that it just isn't fun. You lose so much to gain so little you begin questioning whether or not you should keep it. Before the rework you could feed and stay stage 1 to negate all the debuffs but 20% Fighter's guild ability damage and Prismatic weapon enchantments. Now you receive that and more no matter what stage you are, but granted you always have the sneak speed buff active even at stage 1.

I hope they try to tackle the issues with the vampire rework before the year's end. I want to play as a vampire, but this rework is the opposite of vampiric.

Don't forget the complete lack of a gapcloser in a melee designed kit. Also the fact that none of the groups of people that emerged on the forums after the reveal vamps were getting a rework aren't happy. None. Not a single group.

    1. Those that wanted basically a copied/improved version of vampire lords from skyrim? Nah, they hate this rework the most.
    2. Those that wanted things to stay the same and didnt want a rework? They dislike the rework because it either took away what they liked about the old one gameplay wise or they just wanted to use free passives.
    3. Those that wanted COMPLETELY new abilities and if they went with a transformation for the ultimate, it had to be something we've never seen before and totally unique. These people are also very upset with the rework because, well, it's a mix-mash of new and old things, but not enough to satisfy one factor.

And idk, Ive been testing eviscerate and the nerfs have completely gutted it. I don't see why anyone would ever want to use this over their class spammable.

Regardless, very well written and summarizes pretty much all of our issues with the skill line.

ZOS's issue here is they tried to appeal to *every* faction of the community that cared about the rework instead of focusing in on one. There's a saying for if you try to appease everyone, you'll leave no one satisfied.

Let's also not forget how they seemingly designed a wide array of unique abilities for npcs that would work very well in a kit.... (Gap closers, cc, healing/life steal, aoe, and ranged single target...)
