Drop rate changes in Hlaalu/Redoran/Telvanni motifs?

Was something changed in the last week with the multiple maintenances that happened? I have been doing this side grind of pickpocketing these motifs on and off for almost 3 years now and something in the last few days has changed significantly. I have a group of 10 or so npcs I pickpocket in vvardenfell and I generally get a motif about 80% of the time in the first run and if I don't get it in the first run I always get it in the 2nd. In the last week it has always taken a minimum of 2 runs and alot of the time 3+ runs. I just pickpocketed 53 npcs fully before getting a motif which I have never had to do before. What gives?

    RNG

    It giveths and takeths.

BTW, i have picked hundreds of NPCs in Vardenfell over the years and pulled maybe 2 chapters.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Drop rate is so easy to change behind the scenes with almost no way to account for it. Could it be RNG? Sure. Might be a Morrowind event coming soon? Definitely. Might be they wanted more people to buy those motifs with crowns in a few weeks.

In my experience of picking these motifs for years I have calculated the drop rate to be approximately one in every 30 neutral, non-quest NPCs. And that's picking until empty, rather than pick-pick-stab. I have gotten motifs beyond the third interaction.

I will have to go see if I experience any anomalies.

The thing is, the results for me have been consistent for almost 3 years now. I get a motif generally within the first 10 and always within the first 20. Now its going to 30-50 npcs before getting one, which if there was a rng chnage that bad I'd rather not even waste my time doing this grind. Its not worth it with how cheap the motifs are. Testing again today and I've already gone over 20+ again with no motif. If they change drop rates on items it needs to be shared because its a waste of time for me to dothis if they changed it.

Well, I did get that impression last week after a thieving spree with my nightblade and I got zero motifs after 3 maybe 4 rounds of my usual route. I wasn't really thinking about it but it did strike me as odd not getting a sinle one.

I bet they adjust this kind of stuff constanly and they never they say anything.

Hmm, this is interesting - I noticed last week too so much lower drops for Solitude furniture recipes drops from urns in public dungeon. That might something bigger or just another bug :D

Is there a difference regarding the drop chance between doing three picks as opposed to two picks/stab ?
Npcs restocking their goods is slower than respawning

I had that 1 or 2 months ago already. No difference to now. It's a luck thing, I guess.

I noticed the same, though I also didn't think too much of it at the time.

No, because the NPC spawns with set inventory, and you will take those items from him in the order he is populated with by the RNG. The inventory can change with each spawn, but once he has them you can only take them from him in sequential order. Some NPCs, especially in Vvardenfell, can be holding a lot more than three items. If you kill him after taking his first two of seven items, you will only be able to loot the third item from his corpse and the other four items will vanish.

The exception to this is stealing in groups, or letting someone else BoW them while you are in pickpocketing position and have already taken one item from the NPC. In that case, you will sometimes, but not always be able to loot multiple items from the corpse.
