Is the game fun yet?

About a year and a half ago, I was standing in Grahtwood waiting to enter a dungeon. Whilst waiting, I just thought to myself 'Why am I even here? What am I even doing this dungeon for?'
It was at this moment I realised there wasn't any content left for me to do anymore. I had my gear which was relatively easy to get. I just had no reason to do anything anymore. I think the game is poorly designed in that respect. There is just hardly any content once you have done all of the face rolling quests in the zones........ At least that was the case the last time I played it. If you compare this game to Guild Wars 2 for example, it truly is like night and day. The amount of content and achievements to complete in that game is mind boggling, especially when working towards Legendary gear items.

Which leads me to my question. Have they implemented any new systems which makes the game fun for people who have done the zones quests / stories?

They all had zero challenge and so were very boring.

Took me 3 years to finish all the story quests in the base game. Then I get a couple of months from the expansions each year. Just from Questing.

My main issue is that I feel like there isn't enough variety of builds. I don't want to build 6 characters with the same sets and only a couple of skills different.

I only have DPS characters that have niche builds because Mothers sorrow, False Gods for everyone just seems pointless.

Yes, This is just one issues the devs are not addressing.

Yeah, it's just stupidly annoying. I feel like they just sort of standardised all the classes so then the most damage is always going to come from wearing the same sets. Why not have one class encouraging stacking one stack and other encourage a different one.

Do you have a healer and a tank at least, there are more options for them gear wise.

People keep talking about lack of content... lol I don't see it.

Maybe try to expand into other areas of the game? Or try another game?

Last I checked ESO is an MMO, @cjechurchill ... which means finding friends if you want to do more challenging content.

As much as some players want to believe that the zone quests are the only content in the game, that is simply not true.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a perfectly valid playstyle ... but asking ZOS to cater more to that style (when it’s an MMO genre) is not a developer priority.

They standardised them all just to try and balance PvP. They should just split the gammon 2. Have a set of skills / sets specifically for PvP and one set for PvE. it would eliminate the constant skill updates and balance issues which is damaging the PvE experience. When you enter a PvP zone, you gear / skills just updates to the PvP variant.

It is a story-heavy game. That's also what you'd expect from TES. I'm one of those people who are here for that reason - but I won't complain about a lack of content. It's 35 zones at the moment (dlcs included). Plus dailies. Plus group delves and trials. And all that what I consider "bonus" ;) like housing, farming for set items, collecting different things, achievement hunt, antiquities,... And then you've got PvP. I think it's a lot. Of course you're through some day, but that's normal.

As for more story content: If they'd throw out a new zone each month, they were through all Tamriel in no time.

Another misconception ... keep posting these so we can debunk each one at a time.

The game has to be balanced around both PvE and PvP.

Sometimes changes intended for PvE end up hurting PvP too. A recent example is the Bloodspawn nerf. The ultimate generation stayed pretty much the same for PvE ... but the defensive nerf (which PvE doesn’t care about) hurt wearers in PvP.

Agreed, @Syldras, the storylines are excellent ... but that’s not my point.

The OP is trying very hard to assert their gameplay style is not being catered to by the devs ... when they refuse to pursue more challenging content that already exists in the game.

Mmorpgs for me mean progress. The game is fine on quests but lacks progress imo. The same crafting mats after you hit 160 cp..nothing to gain after hitting 810 cp..most people here are fine with it and are outraged if you suggest some form of progress because they spent a lot of money on gear but for me it gets boring and stale..sure they change skills now and then but your skill bar pretty much stays the same for years now and they never add new skills for classes either

If someone has to ask that question they know what the answer is for themselves, but it is a personal answer.

The big question is why is OP around if they do not like the game? I do suggest OP seek out single player games as they seem to only be doing the single-player part and avoid the more challenging content of MMORPGs that requires some grouping.

    Just my thought.

Excellent chart. You illustrated why there is little content to do once you've done the above. Trials and PVP are niche game play: certainly not the best direction, as its too linear and its proven its not perfect nor challenging. Some can argue the difference but its a sad truth. See how well other games did the same, and the players migrated to other games. When any game loses the cerebral challenge to the players than content becomes boring and repeatitive. Trials failed to accomplish this, and PVP is broken while the cerebral level of challenge exists - its countered by the state of affairs and performance of the game imposes on players. PVE has more cookie cutter builds than PVP: its a sure sign the game is transitioning into retirement and server maintenance. This is the problem and where ESO falls dramatically short compared to other Elder Scrolls titles: character customization. Sets combos now drive characters than anything else in the game; I've seen a lot of gimp builds that were cool experiments but ultimately, those players went with the BiS. The lack of game content isn't solely measured by the digital assets in game but how players can engage and experience challenge.

Dont bother asking if the game is fun. What you find fun may not be the same as the next person.
