When is the Windows client going to get a Vulkan renderer? (MacOS and Stadia have one)

Increases in client performance are always welcome and Vulkan always outperforms DX11 performance, take a look at what good Path of Exile's recent Vulkan release did for that game as a reference. When are we going to get a Vulkan renderer? Ideally with enhanced anti-aliasing support?

This would be a dream come true especially for Linux users currently experiencing a performance loss running the game through Proton.

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 11 years. 8 paid expansions. 29 dungeon and zone DLCs. 45 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. Just because Cadwell Silver&Gold failed doesn't mean the game should be brain dead easy forever.

"ESO doesn't need a harder overland" on YouTube for a video of a naked level 3 character w/ no CP allocated AFKing in front of a bear for a minute and a half before dying if you don't believe me change is needed.

You know for all the complaints about performance in this game it's shocking that a thread that directly addresses a major contributor to this problem can't get a reply. Seems people love to aimlessly complain but not offer solutions and when they do, it gets a fraction of the response.

FPS is not my issue at all... It is more of ping and delays of skills firing during heavy fighting in cryo as well in trials sometimes. I have yet to walk back to either. Battle grounds it is decent performance so I tend to float in there.

Same. But Imagine that Vulkan could increase ESO performance in the same way it did in PoE... That's a dream

I checked Vulkan's approved game engine list and the Hero or highly modified by ZOS Hero engine does not appear on the compatibility list.

Not arguing about Vulkan, but the conversion is not a small task. Even if Zos is considering it ATM I doubt they would say anything. Heck, we hardly get updates on the CP review.

Further, TequilaFire is correct. Hero does not show up on the list of supported engines making the work an even bigger task.

ESO is not HeroEngine. They prototyped ESO on it and thus are obligated in some way to promote HeroEngine upon install but it does not mean they're using it.

It's not like yours is a particularly original suggestion...

As mentioned by OP, the game/engine does already support Vulkan, the Windows binary is just not baked with support for it (even when it has strings in the binary for the API option), since I'm pretty sure the devs have found it to not be useful enough, since the performance problems of the game lay elsewhere and the versions of the game who utilize Vulkan do it for other reasons than performance.

Still, would be hugely appreciated if they enabled the Vulkan API on the Windows client, they don't have to make it official, it could just be a configuration file change to enable it for people who want to try or use it themselves. It wouldn't hurt anyone and even if it wouldn't change much for Windows users, it would be huge for people who play the game on Linux.

As always, I feel a huge disconnect and carelessness in this part, as in many other parts in ZOS as we have experienced over and over. (Rambling here about this while waiting for a "Access code" to be emailed after I upgraded my PC... Been like half and hour already. Usually it's instant, but oh well.)

I love ESO and would love to see Vulkan as an option too for several reasons.

Do not be envious of the Mac client running Vulkan, their Vulkan implementation is bugy like hell with frequent crashes occurring. The Windows DX at least stable...

I say client performance is probably more important than server.

This is pretty easy to test, travel to Alkir during prime hours, note your FPS.
Now follow an dolmen zerg, watching them from close up, note your new FPS.
You are not in combat and in the same instance as before so the difference in only because your line and your system.

Extremely many configure their graphic settings to run smoothly overland outside of combat.
Now this could be solved by having lower graphic settings in trials and Cyrodil. Its not that you notice nuances then the world is on fire anyway.

Obviously you have server lag too espesialy in Cyrodil then you have huge fights, this come on top of client and network lag.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

True. I play on a mac, and the PC clients seem to run much better than our client.
