What is your alt leveling Strategy?

Depends on the Class of the toon for me really (and a bit of the backstory I made for them).

I make purple gear (depends on if mage/stam on which sets I make)+ %training on all of it around lvls 10-12.

If its a hard class for me to get a handle on I usually just stop leveling it, or just run through and do all the main missions in my home nation.

If its a class I really enjoy I'll spend more time and energy on getting it better gear as they level and do more side quests to flesh out the job.

If its a class I fell in love with I do all the quests/story lines/etc. in each zone to give that toon the respect it deserves lol.

I usually use the free items the gave provides, the food, drinks, scrolls, and potions, to help with this.

    Pre-Reqs:
    - Minimum purple gear, all training.
    - Xp Scroll, 150% preferred
    - I only level alts during XP events, no other time.

    1) Dolmens in Deshaan for the first 10 levels
    2) Random dungeon and BG
    3) Buy SkyReach runs from guidies for about an hour or two
    4) Play another character
    5) Repeat 2 and 3

    - Usually takes me about a couple days with this method.

I'm always weary of leveling low-level toons in Deshaan. If a mother's sorrow staff with the right traits or purple mother's sorrow jewelry drop that I can't sell...i'd be pissed lol. So I tend to stick to Alikr although that becomes boring super fast.

Training gear in relevent sets for stam or mag at levels 2 or 4, 16, 26 and 36, purple armour and weapons, blue jewellery.

Then I will do a mixture of the main quest as far as Coldharbour, CWC main quest in conjuction with The Precursor*, Mages Guild quest (a good way to level Fighters Guild too) and public dungeons group bosses and skyshards. Porting to a guildy in the next zone I want to go to and grabbing any skyshards as I travel to the delve for Precursor parts and the Public Dungeon (I'll also unlock wayshrines on the way too, a gentle zigzag to my destination I guess lol).

Then when it's time for that last push of levels/skills I will do the Alik'r dolmen run.

I find this method allows me the skill points required to level my skills as I'm going along.

*I'm slowly building a Precursor army, got 12 so far :#

I don't have one, I stick em with the pointy end until I've killed enough to reach 50. I'll use XP scrolls, because no matter how many I use, there always seems to be more cluttering up the bank slots.

That said I only have 9 characters, and the last one on the account is approaching 50.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

I have 18 Level 50 toons, 3 of each class, for whatever that is worth.

Until recently (It was deconed in the great spring cleaning event of 2020), I had a full set of Magic and Stamina training gear. Magic gear was Julianos and Magnus (lighting/fire staffs), Stam was Hundings and Night mothers (DW/Bow). It was at level 4, 10, 20, 30, 40. All my training gear is 5/1/1 to ensure I am leveling all my armor lines.

Step one on making a new character (skip tutorial and start at Lvl3) was to simply start porting to all the major capital cities from my guild friends list. This gets you to level 4 pretty fast. I then max out the bag space, start feeding my horse, and grab the mages/fighters guild lines. I throw on the level 4 gear and usually go to dolmens until about level 10. Some classes can go straight to grinding with their early skills, but this assures that you have a few skills on your bars* just by tagging along at some dolmens. I also grab the recovery mundus at this point for my main attribute, and make sure I have a stack of trash pots, XP scrolls/potions, and some regen food (witchmothers for example). Oh yeah, and spend your CP (I always forgot that part for a few levels).

*sidenote on Bars: I ALWAYS keep one class skill from each line on my front bar to ensure they all level. I also typically keep a skill for the obvious back bar weapon line (cant use but does gain weaponline XP) and one skill for another weapon (2H, Resto, S+B) etc. I might be a little flexible until I unlock bar swapping, but I try to be strict about this. Once a skill hits morph, I move to the next in line. My goal is to have all class skills and at least 2 weapons lines leveled to morph and as close to 50 as possible by the time I hit 50.

At level 10, I grab rapids in Cyro (RIP), and put on my level 10 gear.

I then go to one of a handful of zombie grinds (zombie's level fighters guild). I can usually get to about 30 in a few hours. Skyreach is also useful if you have a buddy, but I don't pay for carries. Early in the grinding, i am sure to quickly equip a trash weapon I pick up from all the lines and kill something, this unlocks them so I can start leveling those lines passively.

Once I hit 30, I respec my skills typically and quickly power level alchemy and provisioning. Takes maybe 15 minutes if you know what you are doing. I do it then because sometimes you can have a skill point crunch about this point and need to respec anyway if you really are unlocking everything to ensure you level all class lines and applicable weapon lines. I try to spend passives in racial, light/medium armor, and destro/DW, depending on whether its magic or stam. I will spend in obvious class passives, but you really dont need to. Once I power level those two lines, I respec again, and go back to grinding.

I will typically start to queue for random normals at this point (the pool is pretty small) while I grind. If the queue pops, I do the dungeon, because it gives a skill point and some good XP, especially the first of the day. By level 30, you have enough skills to form a basic dungeon build. I will sometimes jump into normal VMA if I am bored, but usually not. It's honestly not super efficient, but it is better than a really crowded grind spot.

I swap gear again at 40, and continue to grind until I hit 50. At 50, I always go straight to VMA, mostly for the title, but also to get a feel for the class.

For most magic classes, all I use to grind are 2 ground dots (blockade and one from the class) and lighting heavy attacks. For stamina, it's mostly hail and Steel Tornado. I will of course backbar good class utility skills like Crit Surge, repentence, Siphoning strikes, just to name a few (really anything that helps with passive heals, damage, or resources). I will certainly also use good grind skills like Sap essence or Sweeps, depending on class.

During double XP, you can have a pretty well rounded toon in about 5-6 hours with this method. Most class/weapon lines should be at 50 or really close, and all your useful skills should be at least at morph. You will be light on skill points if you havent spent some time getting shards (or buy them), but you should have enough for either a basic build or to park the toon for crafting writs. On a stam toon, i would normally jump into cyro at that point to get vigor/Caltrops.

I then typically start the undaunted grind in vet dungeons, and decide what guild skill lines I also need. If you are going to buy any, psijic and mages are the obvious two as they are a nightmare.

Lets see, I leveled 5 Characters to V16, back when it was a real grind.

Then once One Tamriel hit, I did the Dolmen Grind on one character, but that made my eyes burn.

Since i needed the Skyshards and Blue Lorebooks anyway, I then decided to get the skyshards in the first 15 Zones, and the Public Dungeons and the Dolmens in each zone once. That got me to L50 and enough Skill Points to have a useful character. And, it took less time than doing the dolmen grind, then chasing books and shards.

However, for the last 3 or 4 characters, i have gone back to story questing. It is more fun.

For all the ppl with do what u like. No sheet Sherlock. The post was a question of how u power level alts. For those that talk about do this so u don't have to do it later. Skyshards, lorebooks and whatever that's not efficient for "power lvling" to 50. It's tedious and mind numbing but dolmens and skyreach is my go to for efficiency to 50. Also I recommend purple training gear. It's not expensive to upgrade but worth it. With that said. I start out with lvl10 purple training and use it to lvl49. The game is that easy and forgiving imo. Also with dolmens u just need to tag not kill. Skyreach u just need to be close and not die. I like to point out my alts do have the advantage of max cp. Now I do stop power lvling this way at lvl45. Lvl45 is when I focus on lorebooks, skyshards, psijic skill line. I have max champion points, master crafter and money in the bank so this will not help everyone. But to answer the question. That's how I power lvl alts. The master writ is something I have not tried. Guess it's time to lvl another alt.

    More to my point.

I'm the type that would rather circle back and grab skyshards and other things later once I've reached max level. I find that doing public dungeons and leveling with the occasional dungeon skill point gets me enough to have a viable character at 50 that will be ok to circle back and farm more skill points. I'm more interested in the strategies folks use to get to 50 the fastest.

All ideas so far have been good though.

There were some things I did not go into. Why stop power lvling at lvl45? Undaunted skill line opens at 45. Plus another 5 lvls of mindless grinding might be the stray that broke the camel's back. I think using xp pots, scrolls, and events is a given. But sometimes u don't have them for whatever reason. Also I didn't mention I do que for daily bgs and random. Can't pass up the juicy xp. Daily town quests in cyrodiil are nice breaks from grinding lvls. They are quick, easy and close by. So easy I complete them with no problem in lvl10 training gear. Bruma first if it's controlled my the alts faction. For begining questline after coldharbour. EP bleakrock is most efficient. Start the quest from wayshrine. From there grab eastern quest and work ur way counterclockwise. The other two faction's can't beat EP starting island quests if u do it this way.

I don't have one (a strategy, I mean). I make another character when s/he pops into my head and says "It's time!" And then I play that person when something prompts me. I have lots of characters - 56 right now.... so there's always someone to play, from every level (from 8 to CP420, including the CP10 that happened just today).

I'm so not in a hurry to level anyone. I play whoever's yelling "ME ME ME" the loudest....

Tiered training gear, all toons level as stam to 50 with 2h, stampede is your friend, brawler is your friend, soul trap morph that gives resources on kill is your friend, port to all guild members at lvl 3 under a scroll or exp potion, start main quest and do it up to they reform the companions easiest skill points in the game, but if just want to PL (you won't have near enough skill points even for a bare bones build), find a large delve or fast overland camp, corpse garden in deshaan is former and gets you Fighters guild maxed or close about at lvl 50, "tent" camp some north of honrich tower in rift is overland option if don't need FG. There are many camps, look for fast spawning packs with 3 mobs in camps. Dolmens are INEFFICIENT, public dungeons are INEFFICIENT. Don't forget to do your CP for stam dps at the start. Do Cyrodiil tutorial under a scroll.

Around level 45, do public dungeons straight to the skill points and shards.

If building a tank and have the knowhow, you can work in the easy dungeons for quests, but can be a pain because ... will rush and keep you from doing the quest objectives.

Keep one main class skill on the killing bar at all times and figure out how to work them into the rotation. Save up all scrolls.

Incidentally, lvled latest toons on corpse garden in deshan, killed THOUSANDS of mobs, 0 MS staffs of ANY kind ever, nada, lol.

Writ leveling is an option, especially around festivals, but it takes LOTS of setup and gold. Mob leveling takes about 2 days of intermediate play, just did two toons last week. The advantage is that as long as you have stampede going, it's mindless, stampede to packs, soultrap a mob, kill, next pack. Least eye travel and pulling.
