What is your alt leveling Strategy?

This is for the folks to power-level characters. I have 12 and will go to 14 before they swap Rapids for Vigor..then I'm done leveling. With that being said..I'd like to know what people find the most efficient and fastest way to level assuming one has access to xp scrolls/pots/plus membership/training gear...etc.

So far on all buy my main, this has been my strat:

3-10 start island with white training gear.
10-20 Alikr dolmen group with green level 10 training gear
20-40 Public Dungeons in each zone except for DLC with level 20 blue training gear (public dungeon and pvp daily thrown in)
40-50 Public Dungeon, Pvp Daily, Dungeon Daily, and Alikr dolmen run if I don't quite hit 50 yet...this is blue level 40 training gear.

All this is done with xp scroll or psijic potion on solo aoe build. It's pretty good at getting to 50 quickly, but I am wondering what the strategies are for other alt-a-holics.

Depends on how much money I have/want to spend. I've leveled so many characters its just not a super fun experience anymore lol. So for me, the faster I can get it done the better. If I don't want to spend a ton, I will use a double xp event plus either 150% scrolls or pots and run dungeosn with some friends. If I want to be super super fast and don't care about the cost, its 150% scroll/pot, double xp event if possible, and just doing enchanting master writs.

I save up all my alchemy and enchanting master writs and wait for xp event. Make new toon, power level either alchemy or enchanting, buy bag upgrades to get more inventory space, have writworthy loaded and ready, then pop a mythic ambrosia and lvl 3 to 50 in less than 30 min. Good times.

It's a little more efficient cost-wise to use one of the free scrolls to get to about level 8 on the dolmen circuit first. It gives you enough skill points to do the writs most efficiently.

I dont craft anything, I swap out garbage when its better, I don't care whether light/med/heavy just so long as its an assortment of all.

    1. Build your character as a tank, with spammable so you can do reasonable dps.
    2. Start with Psijic line and use Map Pins to collect every overland skyshard and mages guild lore book along the way.
    3. At level 10, que for dungeons, do randoms when available, but specifically que the ones you have not done for skill points.
    4. Do the main quest when you need XP to unlock more dungeons.
    5. Do random battlegrounds as well for additional XP.
    6. Hold onto your Attribute/Skill respec
    7. At level 45, avoid getting XP until you complete all DLC dungeons because at 50, all your gear truly does become garbage.
    8. At level 50, use your Attribute/Skill respec to build the character you want.

At the end you'll have about 200 skill points, level 10 mages, 10 psijic, 7-8 undaunted, 5 alliance, armor trees 50, or close to and if you have put the right skill on the bar, 50/50/50 in your class tree.

If you need any further skill points, aim for the group bosses in public dungeons.

I think it also depends on what you want the new toon for. If it is a crafting alt intended to do writs each day, any way to level is fine. If you intend the toon as a new main or one that will be played a lot, you might as well level by grabbing the skyshards and doing the public dungeons in each zone, while also queuing normal randoms. You will want the skill points. By the time you clear each zone, if you are popping pots or scrolls, you should be pretty close to 50, I would think.

I do the base game starter islands for one faction. That gets me to 10+. Then I mostly do BGs until 50. I don't really care much about leveling speed, and I like sub-50 BGs way better than 50 BGs. I usually also do some daily dungeon runs, but they're not a priority.

My general advice is to do what you enjoy, instead of whatever gets you to 50 fastest.

Fastest way to level is fairly straight forward.

1- All gear, weapons and armor training trait
2- Full time xp bonus scrolls or pots, preferably the 100% or higher versions
3- Run all the public dungeons while buffed as listed above (so you get skyshards and skill points same time)
4- Daily random normal dungeon (tons of XP from this with buffs)
5- When you are out of public dungeons to run, finish up by joining the dolmen grind in Al'akir for the last few levels if needed

I make all my gear sets prior to leveling a new toon so that I have complete new sets of blue or purple gear ready to go at level 6, 16, 26, 36 and 46. If you are leveling up to CP160 for the first time, you want CP30, CP90 and CP120 sets ready to go as well, so when you get to those levels, you can immediately put on your higher level sets and proceed as a powerhouse with battle leveling.

There are lots of options for what sets to use, but with jewelry crafting, you can craft two complete 5pc sets for each level break. It's a lot of sets to put together, but you will be shocked at how fast you fly through the levels.

Mine is a very cheap and easy strategy and not that fast but very low stress.

Level 4 Get green set of training armour already in a chest in my house. Pop the best XP boost(s) possible. Do Ali'kir Dolmens.

Level 10 Do the PvP Tutorial. Do your first daily random dungeon. Do your first daily random battleground. These generally get you to around level 15-16 then back to Dolmens till 20.

Level 20 Get blue set of training armour again already in a chest in my house and put back the green set for the next toon. Once a day do the daily dungeon. At these levels every character is a healer or a tank so that I get pops. I am generally getting 2 levels per dungeon (more if there is an XP event which there often is when I decide to actually make the new toon). So this takes about 10 days but only a short time per day. Also do daily horse training and writs. I usually also create an outfit for the toon at this time if I didn't do it at level 4.

Level 40 Get purple set of training armour yet again from the chest in my house and put the blue back. Time to do the main questline for a ton of skill points. I usually try to clear the starter island and first faction zone as well just for the skyshards and skill points and at this level with new gear these are easy.

Level 50 Put the purple gear back in the chest and collect CP160 gear from another chest. Use the free respec scrolls to set yourself up for your real future role (DPS, Tank, Healer, PvP, Solo, Thief, Assassin, etc).

It takes about two weeks so isn't fast but I have no long boring grinds and enjoy coming back to my new toon each day.

-Go through tutorial, with white training gear I threw together only training gear from level 10 and up is purple quality and stored afterward for future use. Visit guild house to use the steed stone.

-Level provisioning to get the extra drink time passives unlocked

-re spec to get back the extra points I put into crafting, join mages guild and fighters guild

-equip a higher level set of training gear, start running through main quest for skill points, while using xp scrolls.

-sometimes do a load of the easier early skill point quests in a number of alliance zones but don't turn the quests in till I have a large number than use a scroll and go collect them all but only during a double XP event or its not worth it as much.

-equip higher level training gear, go to the alikir dolmens, swap out training gear every ten levels, use either the highest XP scrolls or potions I have.

-Stay at the dolmens till the scroll or potion expires then, travel to town decon everything to help start leveling crafting skills(make sure to assign CP for the 10% inspiration boost) start another XP scroll or potion, log out whenever I need a break. Level as many skill lines as I can before I hit 50.

-Once the character hits 50, re spec skill points, level all the crafting skills.

Once the character is leveled to 50 and all crafting skills are maxed, I either set them up to do daily writs or re spec to get the skill points back and start skill point hunting so I can flesh out the character.

    additional notes:

-sometimes use the master writ method of maxing alchemy and enchanting and doing a large number of easy master writs all at once but only if there is a double XP event on and I have a 150% xp scroll or potion otherwise its not worth wasting the gold to do so unless you have a stupid amount at your disposal.

-I don't use Skyreach because I prefer to level alone and mob grinding area's are hit and miss you can easily waste an XP scroll or potion if too many people turn up.

-I don't use the daily dungeon or battleground XP bonus, queue times are unreliable and I don't want to put in too much effort to build the alts I am leveling to make them useful in group content before they hit CP160.

    1. Go get skyshards. No grinding. Just skyshards.
    2. Do the main quest for the vestige and maybe some others that will give you skyshards
    3. Go get intimidate and persuade from the guild lines. You'll gain fighters guild just by doing delves and mage by finding books.
    2. Start with level 10 training gear, have 20 and 30 and 40 waiting as well.
    3. Train every day, speed, carryweight, stamina.
    4. Research every day, deconstruct everything.
    5. No need for exp scrolls but if you have them use them.
    6. I usually hit 50 by the 8th or 9th zone. With tons of skyshards, skillpoints, and maxed crafting skills and weapon skills.

With daily rewards you get a ton on exp scrolls. I save them up before starting new toons. Basically I just play the game until level 10ish. Hit a quick zombie grind in Deshaan and the public dungeon there, even though it’s packed the exp adds up quick and you get tons of stuff to decon or sell for leveling crafting. I’ve got 2 sets only of training gear, blue lv15 and purple lv30. I’ve also bought the cheap room in Mournhold so I can travel there whenever I wish.

Anyway with my lv15 gear I will usually go complete the first 3-4 zones of the faction quest line for that toon. 3 for AD and 4 for EP/DC because they have 2 starter islands instead of just the one. If I’m at lv30 I trade my gear for the purple training gear and start hitting the main quest line. If I’m short there is a nice little grind spot by silent mire Wayshrine in Deshaan where you start at the doleman and run the loop all the way out last the ship and back around the time the doleman pops again. There are several heavy sacks and chests on this run also, good for obtaining mats.

So when I complete the main quest I have a ton more skill points to work with as well. I’m usually in the 43-45 range at this point and I’ll pop back over to my spot in Deshaan to top off my levels. I’ll generally hit lv50 before I have all the skills I need unlocked or morphed. From there I will collect some easy skyshards or hit some public dungeons For the skill points needed to flesh out whatever build I am working on.

I get my FG and MG and craft certification as soon as they are available as well. With just 2hr scrolls active i generally hit 50 in 3-4 days. You’ll also get a 100 or a 150 percent scroll along the way also. Save those for the last 4-5 levels so they go faster.

Fleshing our all the skills takes a bit more grinding. Either just play the game or go to your favourite grind spot to finish those.

I've found the best way to level alts is to do the Main Story, the Dark Brotherhood questline, the Thieves Guild questline, the Mages Guild questline, and the Fighters Guild questline. Throw in skyshard hunting throughout, doing daily crafting writs, a Dungeon Daily every once in awhile, and sometimes the main quest of zones or the Psijic questline, and you can reach max in a few weeks of casual playing AND have enough skillpoints to get things done.

For all the ppl with do what u like. No sheet Sherlock. The post was a question of how u power level alts. For those that talk about do this so u don't have to do it later. Skyshards, lorebooks and whatever that's not efficient for "power lvling" to 50. It's tedious and mind numbing but dolmens and skyreach is my go to for efficiency to 50. Also I recommend purple training gear. It's not expensive to upgrade but worth it. With that said. I start out with lvl10 purple training and use it to lvl49. The game is that easy and forgiving imo. Also with dolmens u just need to tag not kill. Skyreach u just need to be close and not die. I like to point out my alts do have the advantage of max cp. Now I do stop power lvling this way at lvl45. Lvl45 is when I focus on lorebooks, skyshards, psijic skill line. I have max champion points, master crafter and money in the bank so this will not help everyone. But to answer the question. That's how I power lvl alts. The master writ is something I have not tried. Guess it's time to lvl another alt.

I just go through the story. I often make alts for new expansions. when I first started I made one for each alliance. there isn't really much of a reason to hurry in this game to be honest.

It's a role-playing game I like to give my characters their own personalities and backstories and play it out through questing. You have to get to know your characters.

Although, blue training gear at 10 20 30 and 40 and my infinite exp scrolls from daily login rewards.

Same here. I explore the world, sometimes starting with the "most recent expansion" but sometimes not, and playing around with exploring is how I figure out who my character "really is".

Often they will get their "pets" or "mounts" from something in the world or as part of their backstory. It's enjoyable to play them and figure out who they are by being them and seeing how they react.

    That being said:

    Level 10
    - go to Cyrodiil & do the intro quest.
    - Then start doing undaunteds, lately I've been working up healers or tanks; as long as you can do the job in a lowbie dungeon it's fine (can't stand "fake" tanks or healers or DPS).
    - for some folks, start doing random battlegrounds
    - usually this is also where I start the main quest for extra skill points

Grind in skyreach to 50, then equip wild hunt ring to get skill points, lore books etc.
I can tell you what I'm NOT going to do:
Buying horse upgrades in the Crown Store, which is what the Rapids change was meant to push.

I've been playing since launch and I can't remember ever thinking I need vigor at lvl 10 for any stamina toons.
Pretty much all classes have some Magicka option that's good enough, or use brawler, not to mention levelling content is brain dead easy anyway.

Nothing so related to the level, which to me is largely irrelevant in terms of the leveling process.

I generally get the main 3 story quests underway, main, fighters guild, mages guild. I will often just do one of these quests at the start of each gaming session, so they slowly progress.

However in the main, my levelling involves collecting around 10 daily quests from zone quest givers, but I do NOT hand them in. I tend to start in Gold Coast, then Summerset, then Mirkmire, then Wrothgar, then North Elsweyr. If I can really be bothered, I go onto collect more, Vvardenfell, South Elsweyr etc.

Then, I queue for the random daily dungeon (which is generally available once youv done even a little questing). Once the dungeon pops, I take an XP scroll, obviously the higher boost the better, but often I will just use 50% scrolls as these are abundantly available. Once you have the daily dungeon exp in the bag, I travel around handing in the daily quests, which obviously also receive the xp boost. (note, once the undaunted opens up, you can add in the pledges).

Once thats done, if I have xp scroll time still left, which if its a 2 hour one you will, I then tend to hit Craglorn, just North East of the main town you can run around killing endless adds, which have the added bonus of levelling your Fighters guild at the same time.

The other thing I do, as I am questing the stories, or when I have a bit of free time outside of the levelling process above... I just hit delvs and public delvs/dungeons, mainly for the skyshards. I also travel around getting all the easy skyshards that are near wayshrines.

    Rinse, repeat ad nauseam.

Ive probably missed stuff but thats the gist of it.

I find that doing public dungeons and leveling with the occasional dungeon skill point gets me enough to have a viable character at 50 that will be ok to circle back and farm more skill points. I'm more interested in the strategies folks use to get to 50 the fastest.

All ideas so far have been good though.

    Pre-Reqs:
    - Minimum purple gear, all training.
    - Xp Scroll, 150% preferred
    - I only level alts during XP events, no other time.

    1) Dolmens in Deshaan for the first 10 levels
    2) Random dungeon and BG
    3) Buy SkyReach runs from guidies for about an hour or two
    4) Play another character
    5) Repeat 2 and 3

    - Usually takes me about a couple days with this method.
