Newbie Housing Questions

Hello! New player here! I’m interested in getting into housing, and I have a few questions before I purchase my first house.
1. When will the new character pathing feature be active? I’ve looked around, but can’t find anything about when the update is actually coming. I’m on Xbox, if that matters.
2. Will the pathing feature be available for small (staple) houses? I keep seeing things that say it’s for “homesteading” and I’m unclear on whether that means it’s only for large houses/homesteads or not.
3. I’ve been looking around at housing showcases on these forums (especially these Cobble Showcase ones), and they’ve done some incredible things! It seems like people are modifying the houses to a pretty extreme extent. Can you do things like that in the base game? Or are they using some sort of mods or add ons?

1. Pathing will be coming out with the next major content update, due to release September 1st I do believe.
2. Yes! The only homes where it might not work are Inn Rooms, and even those I'm unsure of. "Homestead" was the name of the content update that released housing, and any content related to housing may be referred to as "Homestead" content.
3. Yes! While add-ons like EHT can be quite fun to play with, they're definitely not necessary, and many people (including myself) choose not to use them. Shadowspawn42✭✭✭Thanks for the help!! I have no idea why I couldn’t find the date of that update. And I think the “Homestead” thing was confusing me because I came to ESO after playing Skyrim lol. And I’m glad to hear that you don’t need add ons to make great houses!0

Anfieldkris✭✭✭Hi shadowspawn, the pc guys do have lots of useful add ons for housing related issues, such as alignment etc. However, it does work fine on console. Best advice I would say is start somewhere fairly modest and then fiddle around and experiment. Switch your camera view when placing accurately on console as well, first person view and very zoomed in can really help. And buy a bunch of planks so you can explore upwards, on top of walls, the roof, rocks etc. There are usually bits of houses that you can get to and build which you will only find by exploring.
I find this website really good if looking for specific items.

Shadowspawn42✭✭✭Thank you both for the links! I’ll check those out. And I’m definitely planning to start small. I can’t afford a large house at the moment anyway, and honestly I don’t think I could manage one. I’m just happy to know that it is possible to make some amazing things on a console.1

If you have the new precision edit feature on console I would highly recommend checking that out. Zooming in to first person to try to see where you are actually placing furniture is a thing of the past with that addition.0
