Golding out a sword would normally take 8 tempering alloy, it is now 20...
Golding out a ring was 4 chromium platings, it is now 10.

Does anyone have some info on this change?

    Those are the default amounts. There are crafting passives that reduce the amount of upgrade materials needed.
