Aegis of Galenwe vs Claw of Yolnahkriin

I was looking into tank sets and i was wondering why people don't use Galenwe as a tank set. Since empower is rly good, 40% of a dd's light attack is like what 2,500 to 3000? This damage multiplied for 8 DD's is quite a lot of dmg every 2 seconds.

But i understand that the tank is not always blocking. But i feel like minour courage is so weak, minor courage increase like 3% of the overall dps? Probably i'm wrong since i'm not an experienced trial runner. But i'm trying to learn tanking.

About Galenwe in a 4 man group, would it outperform yolnahkriin? I'm rly thinking in using it, until a farm alkosh.

Also another noob question, how important is minor aegis for a tank? And the new major aegis from the vrol's command set?

    I'll try and answer from a tank perspective;

Galenwe is cool set now after its change on paper but remember LA have been reworked lately and deal less damage than they used to so the 40% buff is actually less than it used to be.

In a Vet Trial the tank is blocking 95%+ time so the proc condition is not a limit but, in dungeons, the tank will most likely block way less.

Minor courage is a tad better 'cause weapon/spellpower is used to calculate every damage (both Skills and LA) and is also affected by percentage modifier like spellpower potions buff which are in percentage.
Skills deals more damage, especially over time than LA (a typical DD usually has several DoT applied on its target).

For example if you have a 2,000 spellpower DD in your team and he drinks a potion he gets to 2,200 spellpower (assuming no other buff is present) thanks to the extra 10%.

If you previously buffed him with Yoln he's 2,129; he drinks a potion and he gets to 2,212; basically the potion itself gets more effective.

While this may seems little it does works with all buffs and Yoln is only one. No such beenfit will be there using Galenwe.

In 4 man i strongly advise NOT to use Galenwe mainly because you most likely won't proc it often since the reduced amount of time you spend blocking.

If you need a replacement for Alkosh you should craft a set called Torug's Pact; if you make the staff of this set infused with a crushing enchant you can hit pretty much the same penetration you would with alkosh, the only downside is it's single target nature but on bosses is even better than Alkosh considering in 3 man often you don't have access to many sinergies (depending on team of course).

Another way to go is Yoln+Olorime (the latter on jewels+staff with maybe a special weapon like Master S&B) but do this only if going 3DD or if for some reason the healer is not running Olorime or Spell Power Cure

Next Patch Yoln+Powerful Assault will probably be OP since PA will outperform even Olorime and you can proc it with both warhorn and vigor.

Torug, Olorime and PA can all easily back-barred only allowing the use of special weapons and here I'd advise The Master's Sword and Shield so when you taunt you:

Taunt, Buff allies (Yoln), Heal yourself (Master), Buff your resistances (Master)

If/When using alkosh I strongly recomend going dualbarred because you don't want to swap bar every time you need to pop a syn.

About minor aegis: not THAT good but still better than nothing, on paper it's the equivalent of 3300 resistances, actually something less due to how math is put into work in the formula. Probably the equivalent in resistances is something like 2000/2500 (estimating now don't rely on these numbers too much)
