Equipment Set Bonus Question

Many sets require 5 items to get set bonus. I notice that several guides will indicate something like the Maelstrom Bow for the backup weapon. Would using that lose the set bonus if the other weapon (2H) was in the set, just not currently active?

Could the backup weapon count towards a different set bonus as well if so?

You will lose the other set bonus, but every single tick of volley is calculated separately, so when you switch back, volley will benefit from your full 5-piece set.

The maelstrom bow's bonus to volley will activate on the first tick with the bow equipped and then stay active when you switch to the main hand. So it's a win/win.

If you have sets who proc and keep their bonus like briarheart this is not an large issue.
This can even be used to delay and force proc then you want, very nice on Olorime.

So I would lose the bonus if I ran with my bow on, as I often do.

That is what I thought.

I doubt I will have to worry about it for a long time since Maelstrom is still too annoying, but good details everyone!
