Can I narrow down the position of the dig site for scything?

Hello heroes!

I know that there is this skill called "Keen Eye: Dig Sites", but so far it's really annoying running around in a marked blue zone looking for the digsite when trash mobs attack me all the time.

Is there something like a compass available?

In the end, I am busy fighting random mobs instead of looking for the dig site itself.

I have no problem with narrowing it down by finding false dig sites, but rather by looking for the dig sites on the marked blue zone getting constantly attacked by trash mobs instead of doing my job.

Is there a way to accelerate finding the dig site? Is there maybe an addon available?

Thank you!

You can put the augur tool on your quickslot. You can use it while in the blue zone and it will point in the direction of the mound.
If you didn't know this, don't feel bad. I got to level 5 before realizing it... x.x

Yep, I almost gave up entirely before people told me about the augur! OP, a comet will appear when you use it in a dig site; you want to follow the direction that the tail is pointing.

Wow, I have finished two mythics and I'm nearly level 10. I had no idea about this. I have been using rapids on a max speed mount to get by. In high density mob areas like Craglorn, I use Ring of the Wild Hunt with Shadowy Disguise and Concealed Weapon.

Wow, just wow. Oh, and thanks of course! lol

Those are (now) key parts of a thief build, along with Darloc Brae (picked because the 5-piece bonus is nice too) and Night Terror or Night Mother's Embrace.

My thief just became the second antiquarian I leveled. He isn't getting in a lot of fights. ;)

Oh yeah -- his Night Terror jewelry has been Swift for a while. :)

Yup, this functionality should be made much more clear in game.

LOL @ZoS this is what happens when you expect people to actually listen to anything xD

At least new people (hopefully) will read the intro since it is supposedly being updated to include the necessary information those that don't play with sound on missed out on xD

Does the Antiquarian intro quests not tell you how to use the Eye? I'm pretty sure it does.

I'm fairly ure it does, as I knew this from the beginning and I definitely wouldn't have figured it out without the game telling me. :D

    Fairly sure it does
But the pointer is a little broad (so I find the dig site is often not quite on the line I thought from looking at at)( and it has a habit of getting drawn in the ground or rocks on non-level terrain)

Biggest issue it find is the 'eye' cooldown is longer than I would like!

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure in the intro quest the dig site is about 5 metres away so it doesn't really necessitate use of the eye and it's definitely easy to miss. I googled it after doing after searching in vain for my first dig site and definitely thought it could have been telegraphed better.

I remember several on screen messages about the augur, and selecting it from tools as part of the tutorial quest... could be I dreamt that however. Yes, I am that sad that I sometimes dream about ESO--don't judge me!

I'm pretty sure it shows you how to scry for a lead using the mini-game "board," and it says you can use it inside the dig site,
BUT it doesn't state HOW to use it inside the dig site. (i.e., it isn't made apparent during the intro quest that the eye is a slottable item that can be hot-keyed and that using it thusly can lead you to the mound once you are within the boundary of the dig site.)

Biggest issue with the cool down for me is that sometimes the "comet" will be inside another object.

Is the correct position the tail or the big globe of this magic pointer?

Often it just points at rocks.

    The cooldown is annoying.

The tail points the way. Try not to use it around trees, rocks or where there's a huge change in elevation otherwise it just clips into them.

    Ok, thanks.

The message: "This artifact will be analyzed over night" means something? After 12h I have new clues? Is this just a random message?

I don't remember the intro telling me how to use the tool past scrying. It might have and I just forgot. The intro dig site is pretty small though, so not really needed. In fact, it wasn't until I hit Craglorn that the size of a dig site became an issue. It was someone mentioning on the forum that it's easier to slot the tool in quickslot, and I was like, "wait, what?"

You can drop the points put into keen eye. I found my game doesn't render the shimmering light until it renders the mound, and it doesn't render the mound until I get close anyways, and the mound sparkles on its own already. That passive is pretty much a waste once you learn to use the tool.

It's just flavor text. Nothing you need to worry about.
It's just a lead-up to one of the Antiquarians giving a description of the relic you dug up and what its historical significance might be.

And, the comet is sonetimes wrong. I've had two cases (one in Coldharbour and one in Hews Bane) where the comet kept pointing out of the dig site. After deciding to trust the comet and leave the dig site, I found both dirt mounds. Not sure why the dig outlines are wrong, but it seems like they sometimes are.

It is possible to miss on the intro quest that the augur is slotable, it should been mandatory to use to finish the quest - i've seen so many missed it that its clear that this "mistake" isnt uncommon.

All of this. After several false starts trying to follow the "head" of the comet, which seemed more logical to me, I figured out it was the tail. In bigger, complex dig zones, like Coldharbor, the cooldown in interminable. The tutorial isn't the greatest.
