New random dungeon idea....

I propose that they need to make random dungeons...random. What I mean by that is that there is an endless amount of posts about DLC dungeons being included in the random dungeon queue, but what if they took a different approach to the random dungeon? You would still have all your non-DLC dungeons(and DLC ones as well) but none of them would be included in the random dungeon queue.

The random dungeon would be randomly generated....you could generate the map procedurally randomly drawing the boss arenas from a pool of a few dozen different arenas. The bosses(and regular mobs) would also be pulled from a random pool. This would allow some interesting combinations with X boss in Y arena, allowing different strategies to defeat the boss based on the landscape of the arena(being able to use LOS with pillars for example to block a given attack). I realize that you would have to design the pool of boss monsters in such a way to make sure that you could defeat them regardless of which arena they landed in.

The idea appeals because you could add bosses to the pool over time, or mobs, etc so you might come up with some bizzare combinations like the stranglers or dryads from vMHK being paired with the planar inhibitor from vWGT(or a similar boss), but essentially you would be running a new dungeon every time. True....visually doing it this way might clash as you made your way from one arena to another, but I think it could be a lot of fun...and no one would have cause to complain about DLC and non-DLC dungeons being grouped together...you could have 3 difficulties which would change the boss and add pools as well as give different rewards based on difficulty.

Your idea has some merits, @josiahva, but the biggest hurdle is asking players to learn the boss mechanics.

Because that's the issue when you see players whining about not wanting the DLC dungeons in the random pool ... even if it takes 5 minutes to review a youtube vid online.

A big reason for the random dungeon feature is to help players who want to do a specific dungeon fill their group.

    Set drops?
PS the current random dungeon queue is built to save queue time for those who queue for specific dungeon.

Honestly that sounds like a great idea for an arena. Either maelstrom or DSA style. You could even keep the mechanic of 10 or so stages, but if you leave the arena it still randomizes the fight when you come back.

Instead of just learning "fight A I do this, fight B I do that"

Also like the 3 tier loot system.

As a solo player this would be brilliant. Its also the reason why I love Diablo 3.

This is true, but most of the reason for people doing a specific dungeon is farming, you could use a key system similar to vWGT and vICP to open vaults for the dungeon of your choice...not that that would compare to a true farming run, or help with skill point and quest runs, but runs for those purposes can always be filled by guildies or pugging zone chat. From a random dungeon perspective, when I queue for a random dungeon I absolutely hate getting Elden Hollow 1 more than any other dungeon....its because the entry to the dungeon just annoys me, along with the dungeon being way too easy, and the gear there being absolutely useless for me...I would much rather queue into something like this and use the keys to open vaults for a dungeon set I am actually interested in(like WGT and ICP, in addition to keys, you would also get set drops from the bosses)

The main reason I do specific dungeons is:

    1. It's the pledge that day
    2. My character needs the quest/achievement for it
    3. A guildie wants to run the dungeon for one of the above reasons.

Maybe 5% of my dungeon runs have been for farming gear. I've run more dungeons to farm leads than I've ever run for gear.

I like your idea as something new to add to the game. I do not think it should replace the current random group finder. I also do not think it should drop gear found in the dungeons.
