oi lads, yes i know its a MMO.. yes group content and all but im here to give and ask for some ways to play the game as independent as possible.
My idea is (since i have a new account) is to start from scratch.
What i will allow myself is joining guilds (mainly for the social-anti social part), use of daily login rewards and events that can be done solo.
What i will not do is join Any groups, i wont trade with any person, will go to dungeons alone and wont take carries on quests or world bosses. If anyone has any suggestions or if anyone is playing 100% solo, please comment on your own experiance or maybe some advice (no - sarcastic baiting comments arent welcomed)! I would love to read them.

Plenty of solo builds out there, can do grp dungeons and world bosses solo.

There is some content that you wont be able to do (trials and chapter encounters, dragons etc) as it is an mmo after all :)

I play solo all the time.(*) Actually I don't think about it, I don't have any special strategies, I just do. Works most of the time, most group dungeons in normal mode aren't a problem either. Guess I could even do better if I weren't too lazy to farm newer, better sets. I always tell myself I'll have to do that soon... but it didn't happen yet

*Though the question is: What do you consider solo? Is it still solo if people join me after I started alone at a geyser or dark anchor? Is it solo to chat or to roleplay? And why is trading through guild stores (which I do) not considered solo? You earn gold faster, yes, but otherwise?

What you want happens more I imagine than most think. It's actually kinda awesome to be an individual that thinks as you do because it will make you need to have an awesome build that can heal tank and deal damage. I have my gf with me but other than that same boat as you. I am a tank and healer by nature it has taken me awhile to learn to be a good damage dealer. I myself would recommend warden. They have minor and major protection built into there skills and is extremely awesome in my opinion. The bear i personally prefer can definitely be of assistance in 1 taking aggro and 2 dealing damage. 33000 resistance is the soft cap roughly 40 for hard cap. For the best synergy of a bear build and I do not run orthodox builds by no means so I'm sure it'll be scrutinized here. I use sword and shield for defense, hold block then heal. Damage side a restoration staff with nirnhoned for damage and a damage buff glyph. Why I use a resto over a damage staff is resources. The resto with heavy armor gives something like 55% resources back and i use abilities for damage. 5 heavy 2 light pieces on body. I use necropotence for extra magick with bear, jewelry and weapons 2 light on body works here waist and hands preferably. Pariah for massive tankiness. Infused spell damage on jewelry. Monster set of choice. This build is extremely powerful. It has it all. You could even run pure tanky stuff will die less fast but you'll never die to much of anything besides massive group content. Also works on petsorc although less skills available and not as tanky. I've soloed every world boss kinda not into dungeons although the best tank set imo is ironblood I farmed that. Any questions feel free to ask.

What's the problem? I played all TES games so far, even Arena and Daggerfall, and play ESO for the lore. I don't think my style of playing affects anyone.

I have 4000 hours in Oblivion and another 4000 hours in Skyrim. I simply 'outgrew' their size/content. Both of those games combined are puny compared to the mass and scale of ESO. I have 8000 hours so far in ESO and am here for its very large mass and scale. That it is a multiplayer game is a drawback I accept and do not complain about. ESO is pretty friendly to solo play. :)

Without any interaction with other players in game you’ve got a long road ahead for jewelry crafting and you are pretty much blocked almost all things nirnhoned. You’ll have to interact with someone at some point to get your hands on those items.

Outside of that I mostly play the game solo myself but I’ve asked for help a few times with certain bosses that I just can’t solo (glares at Bitergreen in Deshaan.) Some 4 man dungeons can’t be siloed due to mechanics. Either look them up in advance or progress until you realize you aren’t completing it solo depending on how you want your full solo immersion experience to go! I look them all up now because of that!

So far I’m not able to solo vet dungeons yet, so for monster sets I need help, no choice. I do get into a few trials weekly with 2 decent groups because the group events honestly make it interesting to me. I PvP only in BGs try to run with my group but ultimately there is always at least 1-2 freelancers that play every game like death match so I just do what I do and that’s that.

For me it’s not that I’m anti social or anything but I’ve come to ESO from single player games. It’s my first MMO it has some cool stuff I like with group dynamics but as with all things group related in life there is plenty of toxic behaviour out there and when I got out of gaming some 10 years ago the toxicity is what drove me away and finally decided to return at the beginning of 2020. That’s the big reason I often play alone though I will occasionally help people in game or in my guilds when asked. I’m a friendly and social dude in real life but my gaming persona is much more quiet, calm and reserved. Gaming is my chill time. So if you see a guy biting off more than he can chew furiously trying to take down an OP world boss and failing miserably than it’s probably me!

Guild stores work for all things nirnhoned so that's not accurate. Next monster helms are at the Golden vendor west gate cyrodiil every Friday to Monday.

Massive waste of gold on the nirnhoned when I can put in guild chat, “can someone make me X piece for research” and I have it for free in about 5 minutes. Golden Vendor is great when it drops the pieces you actually need. I would rather not play the waiting game and still have to transmute when I can group up and get the guaranteed drop that I will also likely have to transmute.

Nah. I've done it all - JC and nirnhoned - on both account mains PC NA, and nearly done on both account mains PC EU, without interacting with anyone except guild traders (or my other, "more advanced" account). Gold is very easy to come by in this game, and I just buy what whoever needs for research in JC and nirnhoned. Nirnhoned is considerably more expensive (weapons, not armor) on PC EU, but it only takes about 3 days of crafting writs to buy one nirnhoned weapon. Slower than NA, but it's okay, I'm not in a hurry anyway.

All my mains maxed woodworking and jewelry research months before clothing and blacksmith, just how it works out. My level 45 main on my second account EU is already crafting level 50 writs for everything but JC, and it won't be much longer on that.

Now if you're saying "interacting" with someone includes buying stuff off the guild traders, well, that's a lot more nitpicky than I was or would ever be willing to accept.

by no means massive waste, this is opinion and this OP is looking to do it on there own. This is how it is done and a few hundred to a few thousand gold is massive? I can steal on my Khajit (Master thief) around 70000 in 4 hours 100000 in 8 hours. Not really an issue.

Yeah, not a big deal to just buy what you need to research. I don't do guilds period. Better to just buy what I need. LOTS of gold out there....

Yeah ive done this from the start. I'm just old, and progression multiplayer takes up too much time. Not a chance. What's interesting is:

    - Eso supports this because there are 2 story content updates a year. Im not sure if any other mmo does this.
    - Don't worry about gear at all while you're questing (assuming as a solo player that's what you're going to be doing). The loot engine makes sure you're never underpowered or feel like you're in rags.. you get blues and purples from random drops when the game feels like you need a treat.
    - If you're even thinking about solo endgame instead of just packing up and moving on, then use what you know about crafting. Researching and crafting dailies are very interesting as that will be your gear.

    - The most interesting thing about a solo player is the play "lifestyle".. because there is no group pressure, you can log on, do what you want, and log off at a whim. You can actually have play sessions under an hour that are very valid. Instead of 3. Given how doing every quest in the game is practically infinite content anyway.. you can actually just call it after one quest / task and work on the rest of your steam pile / live life without mmo bloat. And still progress.

Being able to play an mmo in short burts and still progress i think is the biggest feature about sp eso.

Most stuff can be soloed easily enough at least as far as story and questing and most pve content. Dungeons some are easy enough to solo some harder to solo.

the way i interpret it is that ''if i didnt craft it and i got it from someone else its not solo'', its kinda stupid and even more locked-out of content but i just wanna see how far i could go

Honestly, if you do mostly questing and normal delves, you don't even need elaborate equipment. Several of my alts (which I use only very rarely) walk around in armor I've found. I didn't even craft it for them, and it doesn't even match. It's not even whole sets, just random stuff they found as loot somewhere. I have never cared much since they mostly just stand inside the bank and carry my stuff. But, each time I take them outside to fight (for whatever reason... events and such) - I always realize they get along totally fine, even with the rubbish they're wearing. ESO is so easy.

man i feel you : D im still level 17 on my char being solo. btw good choice of making eso your 1st mmo, its not THAT bad how people tend to say..
btw i know theres singleplayer TES games.. but ESO just has.. content.. loads of quests, world to explore.. and atleast for me thats why i play any ''bethesda'' game (even if its not bethesda made, i know, but it has 'that' feel to it"

Can't watch the vid at the moment, but a friendly tip is to invest in crafting early on, especially research of traits. It will make it a lot easier for you to get good gear down the line while still being "solo". I played like that for the first year or so before I joined any guilds. Got to cp 160 and had decent enough gear to a lot of content solo.

I have more than one account and one of my accounts which I refer to as my anti-social account, I play completely solo. I am in no guilds, have no friends, and never group. My character does all her own crafting which took more time because of researching traits. Until she had a decent amount of traits researched, she stayed away from soloing dungeons, WB's, etc. She got the items to research for nirn and jewelry from my other account. Otherwise, I would have bought them from guild traders.

The only things she can't do are dungeons that require more than one person and trials.

I don't worry about other people joining in on an activity that I am soloing, like dolmens and world bosses. If you want to do those completely alone, you will need to play at times when the population is low and stay away from events that draw too many players to the same area.

Even in Cyrodiil I play solo. Naturally, when fighting at keeps, there are other players but I never group with any of them.

True just playing through the quests gives months of fun. Still joining an causal guild add so much more to the game.
Everything from clearing bosses and geysers in Alinor to normal trials are just causal fun.
You can still play solo and all respect that even if you get invites to events.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

If you want to have an excuse explain a shared bank between all of your different characters, then assume that your characters are part of their own guild/adventuring group.
    Problem solved.
You can now play ESO offline and still do almost everything in the game, including group dungeons where the other players are fellow undaunted guildmates.
