Just to clarify before I answer.

You are wanting to do overland content while still being a meaty tank correct? Not switching out for damaging medium sets/magicka sets?

It's a somewhat silly setup and not that much more damage but my tank will usually use Leeching Plate which is relatively good anywhere for a tank. If I'm running around questing on him I'll usually use Frozen Watcher with Swarm Mother so it pulls everything to me and gets hit by the ice swarm + leeching.

WB's I'll just swap out Swarm Mother for Maw of the Infernal for the extra DPS; it'll hit hard and be up relatively often more than enough to notice the difference. Then I can just spam block/LA when I want and get resources back when I need em while still not really paying attention.

Eternal Guardian on both bars for extra DPS as well, Gripping Shards for a bit more. And just puncture/low sweep/la with whatever supportive abilities you want to take that you like. Frozen Watcher adds around 2k single target dps while Maw will add I think 4k or so when it's up.

Have your tank sets and add a medium pure damage set in your inventory. When you decide to play solo overland, switch to medium.

You can buy cheapish dd sets that are not BiS. Divines are not must have, actualy they give less dps with a tank's mundus.

I can suggest considering werewolf form. That way you can keep all the meta tanking gear on you and just jump into ww for soloing, it should give you enough damage for overland.

If you aren't tanking Vet DLC dungeons, you could probably get away with a DPS build (maybe use health enchants on armor) and just set your back bar up for tanking with sword and board and defensive skills. Front bar DPS and solo play, back bar, up to medium level tanking. I do that all the time when I'm leveling tanks no matter what class they are.

Would Leeching pair well with Azureblight for proc damage? Between the plate, and DoT skills (Gripping Shards, Fletchr Infection, Polar Wind, Arrow Barrage, and Caltrops) I think there may be enough DoT to proc azureblight frequently enough to be fun.

It's a similar thought to the Xynode build but using Leeching instead of Frozen watcher. What would a good DoT Monster set that would go with that theory?
