Warhammer Online came out in 2008 and had a warbands feature....

There is nothing worse than getting into Cyrodiil and no one is paying attention to inviting for groups, or the auto-invite is buggy (imagine that...something buggy in ESO) and not working. Warhammer Online came out 12 YEARS ago and was able to manage a warband feature where you could auto-join open warbands without anyone having to do anything other than set it to open. Why is this so hard for ZOS to implement for Cyrodiil?

They had a groupfinder option for Cyrodiil. Almost nobody used it, so they discontinued it.

Pretty much this. A big reason why it was not used, and a very bad idea, is it is more open to letting spies into the group.

Players that did not already have groups to join go for the large zerg groups that form in zone chat. For anyone that PvPs regularly it is better to find a decent PvP guild as the player skill and leadership is often better.

There must have been some flaw in it for people to not use it. And why would they discontinue it? That makes zero sense.

No flaw as it did what it was intended to do. The Auto-Invite add-on permitted more control as far as PC goes. The console had other means to provide them more control as well.

The Groupfinder worked, if that's what you mean by a flaw.

As for why few people used it? I think that most players don't just want "a group" in Cyrodiil, rather they want a group with leadership. They want someone to have the crown who can get them to the fights. So practically speaking, that means you meed a premade group of some kind, whether that's LFG in zone, joining a PUG, or running with a guild.

I've led an LFG raid briefly. Its hard work and I only knew what to do because I run regularly with a PVP guild.

Ok, but, is Warhammer online still around? There's tons of other PvP centric games that had ideas and concepts that we want for ESO. ZoS does not care. PvP does not make them money. Which is kind of odd, because they WOULD make money if they fixed half the broken crap and lag we've been dealing with forever. It would attract lots of new players.

People didn't use it because they want a group but don't want to be crown (leader).

All the time you see people asking for a group sometimes multiple people.

If you suggest that they start one, they just don't want to do it.

If people are actually serious about learning and participating in pvp — I.e. not just joining to leech AP or just f*** off to some random location on the map because they disagree with the group leads’ calls — they should try applying for a guild on their campaign that is active during their main playtime.
