Unbind Scrolls

A discussion that has gone on for years is the the Ability to Unbind either weapons or armor with a crown purchased scroll. An "Unbind Scroll". I am curious as to the Forum Community thoughts on if they would support them being sold in the crown store or if they should be implemented in game at all?

Scroll of Unbinding: Allows 1 Bound Item to be unbound and tradeable.

I understand this would open the option for players to skip content and yet still get highly desired items. The point is to "Play as you want, not play as you are forced".

What are your thoughts, and why?

I believe the reason this item doesn't exist, an item they could sell in the crown store easily, is because they put the newest/best gear behind a new content wall. A scroll of unbinding would get players around having to buy new content to get the new gear.

Radical. Maybe a pledge of Mara type deal where you can at least share bound items between two different accounts?

No. Gear is pretty easily available in this game, and that's why it gets bound on use. If you get something from a dungeon you can trade with your group if they need it.

It's not hard to find something that you can use.

I actually really like that idea, it would make the Pledge of Mara useful again, they would need to put some limits on it, like making it completely permanent, maybe limiting how many an account can have, things like that, but for people with multiple accounts it would really help, and would be cool for RP and RL couples as well. (maybe could also make a specific house a shared home for them)

"Play as you want" doesn't mean skipping content for instant gratification. You said it yourself in the OP.

Yes, it seems many people fail to understand that "play as you want" does not mean there are no rules of play.

Of course, there very much are, thankfully.

That's not remotely what "play the way you like" means. ZOS' most recent explanation was to say that it means "every class is viable in every role, not every class is optimal."

And, well, I hate to say this, but ZOS? They LOVE forcing players to do ALL the content if they want ALL the rewards. Just look at Antiquities. Just look at Events.

No, you can't buy your BOP jewelry/gear/weapons without doing the content.

I think this could be a good idea, BUT only if it affects items that were bind on equip to begin with. Want to get rid of that Inferno Staff of Mother's Sorrow? Sure. Using a crown store item to unbind your perfected Maelstrom Inferno to sell it? No.

Or you know, people could just progress through the game like one typically buys an MMO to do?

Whatever works for you. My point was that the only items I can see being unbound later are those that are unbound to start. Honestly, even if this item were available to unbind, it would be cheaper in 99.99% of situations to just go get another copy of the item anyway. Basically, this unbinding scroll wouldn't do anything you couldn't already do in game by just buying another copy.

I disagree completely with the idea of allowing any bind on pickup item to EVER be unbound. That breaks the game and the economy in so many obvious ways, it boggles my mind that anyone could ever suggest it with any sort of seriousness.
