STOP PUTTING VAMPIRISM AND WEREWOLF CURE SALES UP

Seriously, all you are going to accomplish is rip off a few newbs, and then when they realize they could've gotten it cured for a pittance of in game gold, they're going to resent you ZOS.

In fact, it really should just be removed from the crown store altogether, or have a disclaimer added to it that states, you could waste all these crowns on this, or pay practically nothing if you get it cured by an NPC.

I agree that the only thing this can accomplish is bad feelings later on when players realize they have been ripped off. If I feel like I'm being ripped off, that doesn't make me want to spend more money in the future.

This only exists in the store as a trick to fool players and ZOS should be ashamed of themselves for having it there in the first place as well as promoting it with sales. Absolutely disgusting.

I know they are, which is exactly why they should stop putting it on sale and promoting it, or take it off the store entirely. I do know a few ppl who have bought it, and they all have said they did so because they didn't know any better, felt like ZOS had ripped them off hardcore, and it left them seriously sour about it. Some said they stopped paying for subs because they don't want to support, as they called it a "disingenuous game developer." It's a shameful practice, and I think it's in everyone's best interest if it were removed.

Seriously, the title should read, “please stop buying vampirism and werewolf cures”... at this rate I think people would buy in-game corona cure...

    For sure also the curse.

Both the curse and cures are easily obtained for free.

Curse from the wild NPCs or other players, cure as others said from various NPCs for very little gold.

The curse from NPCs can be hard because they're not always up but it's not THAT bad, I've run into wild bloodfiends and werewolves in the relevant zones many times and gotten the curse.

Curse from players is often free. I always give my bites for free and so does everyone else I've seen.

Same goes for soulgems, crown potions, crown food and crown drinks. All of those have equivalents that are dirt cheap.
Crown repair kits are more efficient than regular repair kits at least and take up less inventory space.

I am pretty sure the prices in the crown store are determined by someone throwing darts at a wall with different price tags on it. 1500 crowns for an outfit slot that isn't even account-wide but character-bound? Seriously?

Granted, and that's fine. Squeeze money from people, but at least do it with some dignity, and not try to trick people into paying obscene amounts for something they could get dirt cheap elsewhere.

Asking for this company to not rip off customers?

It is no mystery that crown crates, crown store cures/bag upgrades and who knows what else really pisses off people when they find out they got ripped of MASSIVELY.

Players aren't always there to help though. Even saw some sell bites. The curses should at least be in the store for when no one helps and you don't feel like waiting for hours you may not have.

In-games cures is not the issue...

I don't understand why stores sometimes stock blatant ripoffs instead of at least keeping ripoffness subtle.

When I see any store selling obvious ripoff then my impression is the store itself is a ripoff and to be avoided. One of reasons I quit Steam. Is it just me not being properly conditioned consumer or some kind of mysterious cultural thing? Its not just ingame shops or games and definitely not just murricans, Chinese are even worse.

Only new players fall for it. It has to be done to rip off new customers.

The fact that people will fall for it doesn't mean it's ok or should be allowed, even if those people should know better. Should Twitter have kept up that bitcoin scam that went round recently simply because you'd have to be an idiot to believe some celebrity is going to give you back double what you pay them?

What ZOS are doing isn't quite so bad, at least you will get what you paid for, but you'll still be paying far, far more than you would if you used the alternative method (technically also offered by ZOS). It's basically taking advantage of players being new or uninformed and not knowing what their options are. That seems unethical, and could actually lose them money in the long run because if someone finds out they wasted money on a crown store purchase they may then be reluctant to buy anything else unless they're absolutely certain there is no alternative, and end up buying nothing (or a lot less) as a result.

While on the surface I agree the practice seems very predatory. On the other hand, I think it's easy to underestimate the number of players with the kind of income that have no issue with paying for any convenience...however small. That's just a reality of consumer spending.

Question: How does one know the have been cursed? I saw this was an option when Greymoor was released and have played through most of the content--have encountered LOTS of vamps and werewolves and, as far as I can tell...not cursed.

Am I lucky, or missing something?

Only special NPCs that spawn at night on certain days in Bangkorai, Reaper's March, and the Rift can infect you. Go to your character page and you'll see the status effect Noxiphilic Sanguivoria for vampirisim, and Sanies Lupinus for lycanthropy.

I mean, the entire game design is designed in a way to get people to pay up. An obscene amount of mats that you can't even hold in a fully upgraded bank, items that can't be stored in a bank and clog up inventory space, items that don't stack, multiple versions of the same set items, houses that only fit a limited number of chests, it goes on and on.

The entire inventory system of this game is designed to get you to pay for ESO+, buy crowns to use on bank, inventory, and storage upgrades, and buy bigger houses so you can store them in.

I always hear people say "ESO+ is worth it for the craft bag alone"... yes, because this game is designed that way. It is designed to be highly inconvenient for you unless you pay the subscription.

Yes, it's an MMO, but I've played MMO's that weren't like this. MMO's haven't always been this way. They have become this way.

I'm not passing judgment on it. If I did, I'd have to pass judgment on myself as well, as I am an ESO+ subscriber, and have spent money on crowns a number of times, and probably will again. I don't know that it is good or bad. It just is.

But it is a very conscious design choice to funnel people towards the game store for whatever it is they want to buy. Curses and cures included.

Open your character menu (C on PC) and scroll down to active buffs on the bottom and see if you have any mentions of a curse or if you are randomly being asked if you want to be cured by an Arkay priest/follower randomly. Because I realized i had it because I was randomly being asked when I was a much newer player.
