If Update 27 doesn't work your situation with TESO?

As Maj 27 is supposed to be the final part of this performance improvement plan plus various in-game changes would you continue TESO or are you on the verge of frustration and disappointment and finally will it be the ultimate sledgehammer blow to your head for you?

For my part, I'm currently in great frustration having become a pvp player for some time (and yes, probably my biggest mistake...) now when you have your favorite class completely destroyed and in great complication to compete with the others because of such a chaotic balancing act.

Given the inability of the devs to find a good balance, I'm thinking more and more about changing the game, although difficult given the pleasure I get from the elder scrolls universe, sigh...

I'm sorry to hear that. It seems tough being a PVPer on a crowded server. I hope things work out for you.

I left the game already, even though after 3k hours there's still plenty I would love to do, simply because neither PVP nor Trials have been playable for some time. If U27 makes it so that I can play Cyrodiil after work without lag being pervasive and unavoidable, I'll find it hard to resist coming back.

Performance is the only reason why i stopped playing this game. Balance is meaningless if i can't play the game, plus i play all classes so i can switch if one of them gets "destroyed" (i assume you are talking about mag necro).

Personally i don't care about the future of this game anymore. If they fix pvp i'll gladly play ESO again, if they don't then i'll enjoy watching how part of this game dies (and hope any other company makes a similar pvp concept but without any of the issues)

I had a long, first time, break during the 2019 fiasco period. The issues that started on the Eu in late 2018 was ignored for a very long period, we were told by a certain someone, if we didn’t like it we could just go be somewhere else.

Now, when the na server is starting to act up, they are sending an investigation crew - but only to the na. Eu just do not matter as anything else than moneymaker. The players are absolutely b-list customers.

The desyncs, the state in Cyrodiil, the out-in-the-open cheating, the numerous bugs - sound, visual, surroundings - the not here, neither there, constant huge changes, without any kind of explanation as to why, or what they are reaching towards, costumes giving “special treatment” to the wearer. The sloppy way of keeping the decision of the year long bridge, while everything else is burning (but only on Eu). [snip] The fact that cyrodiil is moving more and more towards a zone where various guild masters can come and polish their egos. Basegame zones filled with npcs standing in weird places. Every glitch just bugs me more and more. The loading screens in Craglorn. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes to leave a house. Background npcs gone haywire with their manuscript. Quest givers that has to run a kilometer in circles at super fast speed, before reaching me.

    I’m fed up.

But as a single mom, with a child young enough to have a bedtime before 20.30, this is my vent. My outlet from the daily hassle. They could’ve made so, so much money on me.

Love the game, dislike PvP. If the raps situation doesn't change might be time to go back to Classic for a while. Being generally disappointed with Greymoor has not helped matters.

I never have issues with performance. I am not interested in pvp or "endgame pve", which seems where all the problems are. So my situation will remain the same: play all day every day, sub on two accounts, and buy crowns.

It is just sad that they are so desperately trying to hold onto this archaic engine - meaning, that the balances they are proposing are to keep it within the confines of what it can still “physically” do... instead of what is SHOULD be, or what new progressive changes can be made.

One foot out the door here too. No big deal... there's plenty of other fun games I've yet to discover. My main is a stamblade and it just keeps getting nerfed down. It's relentless. ESO is probably first game I've ever played where the more time you invest, the weaker you get. Keeping up with it all starts to feel more like work than play. As for performance.... well, that's just getting worse and worse too.

I am a pveer. When i do solo the 'diil the things I notice are the skill firing lag and the frequent load screens in the north
Other than that it's been fine. It seems the majority of rants on here by people who slam ZOS and have had it and threaten to quit are pvpers and hard core end gamers who focus on vet trials. Two areas with large groups of people with high dps all firing off skills that stack etc, requiring a ton of calculations. Alot more is going on there than what you would get from a group of 10kdps guys who just spam 3 skills. I would be curious how Cyrodiil would perform if they made a pve server of it where you don't fight other players when taking over keeps but npc's. Just as a test to see if it performs better. Could help narrow down possible causes of pvp performance deterioration.

    It's Stockholm Syndrome.

I really want this to go well and improve performance but based on past "improvements" i'm not too optimistic. I would love to be wrong and be able to enjoy the game. I don't even get too upset about all the set and skill changes because right now my skills only work 50% of the time or less in PvP. Lag OP

Personally, I am fed up with Cyro performance (PC EU). It's not only bad, it's literally unplayable. Server kicks, lags, desyncs, skills not firing and suddenly you re getting 1-shot from someone who fired 5 skills against you in 0.5 secs.

Besides that, even PVE gives little incentives to keep me playing. Veteran basic Dungeons have become so boring after 100+ runs to the point that I ve stopped doing daily pledges. vDLC dungeons look like dead zones, I could queue in dungeon finder for 1 hour and never get a group (got only 4 groups in 3 days for vLoM after many hours in queue daily). New content is uninspired and dull with poorly written stories.

If this situation continues, I am thinking very seriously of quitting for good.

There are literally free engines that can handle what is SUPPOSED to happen as far as tool tips / processes / infrastructure... which would give this game infinite longevity - as opposed to being temporarily dumbed-down with each patch, and called “fixed.”

Instead of devising a long-term plan, they are creating mini-games and back-tracking to squeeze everything they can out of the ailing system.

Instead of being excited for new content and systems after being in love with The Elder Scrolls for nearly 2 decades - I got a refund for the Greymoor Chapter.

Instead of actually pulling the trigger, and buying my family 6 consoles; 6 versions of the game; 6 21000 Crown Packs... I realized I couldn’t support it to this degree going forward.

Instead of being magnificent, it is glaringly mundane.

Instead of realistic pessimism - I want to be blown away with real change worthy of this once groundbreaking game / lore franchise.

I'll likely start spending time on other games and doing other things in life. I'll probably get on daily to do my writs, and once a week I'll hit surveys and maps.

Considering the cost of getting traders has been rising, all my trader guilds are starting to panic and either raise their weekly tithe or ask for "better" items to be listed, so I suppose I'll drop down to one trader guild rather than many. I may end up having to downgrade to a smaller guild that can't get a weekly trader. My weekly tithe plus donations won't happen if I'm not in to farm a lot, after all.

I'll miss visiting with people. None of my other games are MMORPG's. All the other stuff I'd do at the house is crafty or artsy and you don't do that in crowds. Hey, nothing we do is in crowds anymore, and won't be for a while.

**shrug** I don't have to like it. But I doubt I'll leave, TBH. I enjoy this game too much. :P

The only thing keeping me in ESO currently is my amazing and wonderful guild, which i have been randomly invited to.

I've been a main pvp-player ever since the Warden came out. It was such an amazing and fun experience, that i did not do anything else besides playing PvP in my spare time. I came back from work and immediately logged in to participate in some high quality battles that occured throughout the day. Oh boy there was fights. Sometimes defending for an hour straight just to win on the last flag it was such an epic feeling. The only performance problem back then was long loading screens when using the Transit shrine. There was almost no lagg at all in Cyrodiil, even when 2 major factions were clashing on to each other.

After meeting a few wonderfully people which i unfortunately don't have contact with anymore, as they stopped playing i went to do PvE occasionally in order to help progress in CP and just to have so fun at night, when the campaigns are dead. It lasted a while and things began to change. I was getting long loading screens, unable to participate in any form of gameplay due to huge server crashes and other issues. Then Elsweyr dropped and i couldn't play for 2 weeks straight. After this i went back to Cyrodiil for the first time in 2 months or so and it was a huge Slideshow. The Ping wasn't bad at all, no it was FPS. On major battles you'd have 1 FPS and people just teleported around. It was unplayable. Me and my friends parted ways and i stopped playing for a while until the next Chapter came out. I eventually did a lot of PvE content and completed the majority of Tamriel, before loosing interested, as PvP is what really made me happy.

I stopped playing again for over half a year.

When i returned not long ago i immediately started playing Cyrodiil. I was very happy, that the FPS and Performance got so much better that i barely noticed that lagg at first. It was during my first prime-time battle that i thought hmm this sucks. As ping lagg was a new thing for me to experience in eso i thought this was on my side. I also had a new Router. I bought another new Router and a LAN cable. Unfortunately the Team did a great job at silencing these issues, which could have saved me some money. I still occasionally play Cyrodiil mainly at Lunch time, when there is actually somebody to fight, without the laggs being too terrible, but for the most part i'm just standing around idle in Craglorn or helping out my guild on various content.

I'm much looking forward to the new Chapter and i sincerely hope, that this will help the lagg in Cyrodiil. I really doubt it, due to the amount of increased house items that will now strain on the server, but i have a dream you know. I've already made out a new promising MMO that will be dropping soon. If this doesn't work out with the laggs i won't be returning back to ESO ever again.

I hope that answers the question.

I'm of the mindset they should do what FF14 did, aka close the servers, redo everything, and reopen stuff with a new engine and all (disclaimer: I don't know why FF14 did the whole Realm Reborn thing, if it was engine issues with the previous game or what, I only know they did it). There's so much going wrong with things as they are, despite all the performance stuff that's happened so far, and from what I've heard from people who code, trying to work with code you weren't originally part of is a huge pain. That's what we have going on now, new devs working on code they aren't familiar with. It'll probably keep happening as the game grows older but geez, at least move ESO to an engine that can handle things better if nothing else.

And yes, I know a lot of people would be against this because of the fact that I'm pretty sure all progress would be wiped, but I honestly think I'd be willing to give that up in exchange for a game that actually functions properly.

I'm way too casual to get that much in a tizzy about the performance in order to consider the next update as an ultimatum to whether or not I continue playing. The game has been stable enough for me and I'm invested way too much time and money to just drop it if the next update doesn't magically fix everything. I'm going to keep playing whenever I want to.

I used to play another popular mmo that also suffered with extreme lag in a Zerg vs Zerg vs Zerg environment especially when 2 opposing zergs clashed.

They tried a temporary fix of limiting the numbers allowed on the battlefield which solved the issue. But they reverted the change because of the complaints and players quitting due to increased queues.

It seems to me that no amount of performance changes are ever going to fix cyrodiils lag issues unless they do the same and reduce player numbers but that will increase queues and complaints.

FF14 was redone due to the coding, high spec requirement, especially the game engine in that it doesn't allow over large amount of players in one area without lagging big time.

I played FF14 from the last 6 month of the original launch up until Shadowbringer expac. From A Realm Reborn (when it was re-released) its always been smooth sail from there. Square Enix I dont think uses Megaserver but multiple server within regional data center such as NA, EU, JP.

Infrastructure wise, ZOS can't compared to Square Enix, and I get more frustrated with ESO compared to FF14 (FF14 rarely frustrated dont remember when I ever was), but ESO has cool armor traits and mechanics which I think with so many players along with other features its hugging up resources within the datacenter. Add to the fact you can use Add-ons on ESO which I do quite a few add-ons on my PC.

ESO has some really stupid options and or doesn't implement an QOL example where you can keep the keyboard/mouse UI while using Gamepad. Something I would love to have implemented not sure why ZOS does not...

Kinda like how Apple Iphone works compared to Android where you think, really Apple? Simple options like that isn't included?

But yea, ESO has a lot of problems for an MMO that sometimes I call it a shovelware game. On top of lag, character randomly get stuck and or can't move left or right via direction gamepad, buy crowns etc is frustrating. FF14 has none of that issue. Butter smooth and alot of mounts you can get in-game.

But the positive sides of ESO is they have unique mechanics and options in the game that FF14 and other MMO doesn't have.
Although having said that, ESO Plus, having to buy Crowns, gated items/mounts etc, really takes a few notches down for me. Otherwise it would be a near perfect MMO.

    I went off rail.
