Maintenance for the week of February 23:
· [COMPLETE] NA megaservers for maintenance – February 23, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)
· [COMPLETE] EU megaservers for maintenance – February 23, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 17:00 UTC (12:00PM EST)
· [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – February 23, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)

Why a 6 hours maintenance window ONE WEEK after an 8 hours maintenance window?

Wow, so your view of a properly working piece of software it that it should get a weekly reboot to work adequately? I have software I wrote working without ANY maintenance (logs, system restarts due to O/S patching, etc) or human intervention in investment banking for more than 10 years, but you are telling me it's OK to reboot an MMO software every week? On which planet where you born? Should I make sure I reboot the software the next time you go into ICU?

Accounting is hardly on the same level of game coding....
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Dude, I am not gonna start a fight, but foreign exchange FIX transaction handling is not what I would call accounting. Feel free to read a few books about what ForEx IT is about before voicing your (un)informed opinions.

Oh, and concentrate on the bits about microsecond transaction handling / pricing, as well as the bits about co-located gigabit exchanges for preferred partners. Not that I would know anything about it, of course.

Who tells someone to educate themselves before making uninformed opinion when making one themselves?

Routine maintenance is normal in an mmo.
    They post patch notes.

And finally: I broke my voirginity in this game by sorting out a performance issue on a stack of around 350 servers spread across 3 different geographical locations (eErope, US,Asia) after an upgrade from Sybase 11 (Solaris) to Sybase 15 (Linux). Turned out our brilliant sysops had forgotten to turn on DIO on mount builds. It saved the bank in question a few millions a day.

But of course I have no idea about what it takes to run proper software.

    Oh, what's you own background?

Gals'n Guys, I was trying to elicit a response from ZOS, which will CLEARLY never come as they are too busy sorting ANY PR answer to anything that fires their way. Can we please just drop this thread, it has gone past usefulness.

And I am sorry if I offended a few with "past mustard" rather than "past muster", that's the downside of being a French national still trying to lean English. Hey ***.

@Elsonso Call me a cynic but technically updating the firmware on a router is "backend infrastructure work".

I suppose. I have seen some firmware updates that take days to complete.
