Something about my build is inadequate in this stage. I don't have quite the DPS to burst him down, but I also don't have the defense to take everything that's thrown at me.
Up until this point I've been using one bar on lightning staff with Flappy Bird, Crushing Shock, Power Surge, Harness Magicka, Bound Aegis and Shooting Star. I sneak in a cheeky Unstable Wall from my back bar when I can. I've been running Mother's Sorrow, Julianos (I know, not optimal), and Illambris. (Not Necropotence because I'm not a dedicated pet sorc, but I may have to grab a set if I'm going to rely on ole Flappy for this.) I do have Thrassian Stranglers, and I've been running them in most content, but I didn't think it'd be wise here or beneficial, because of all the dying.

Also Critical Surge should heal you for over 3x as much as Power Surge
!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU FOR THE NOTE ABOUT POWER SURGE. I was wondering why something just felt so. . . wrong, with it. In my defense, I recently took a long break. lol Thank you so much.
EDIT: I've gone to the Spellscar area to level up Crit Surge and this already feels so much better. Where was my head at?

My playstyle had been very much pop Power Surge, throw down an ult and go unga bumga with an inferno staff, and this allows me to absolutely bat guano again. I feel like I'm back, baby!

If you ever put that guide together, I'd be interested to see it. VMA frustrates me because I don't struggle in other vet content. It's just. . .. different somehow. lol To my shame, I'm not a new player, but I only just started taking the game seriously in the past year or so.

Seminolegirl1992 wrote: »Congrats @VersispellisIf interested in running it again for a new headache, this is what I run as a non pet sorc if you feel comfortable moving to a two bar set up.
Front bar: Crushing shock, frags, haunting curse, crit surge (or inner), bound aegis, atro
Back bar: unstable wall, mystic orbs, channel acceleration, shield, bound aegis, destro ultimate (always use this one)
Gear 5 piece perfected false gods, 5 piece mother's sorrow front barred. Monster set is flexible- I'd say either Balorgh for bursty, valkyn, illambris maybe. If you don't have pfg julianos should be just fine

Good thing about julianos is it's still viable so you're okay without trial gear, but man oh man pfg is super helpful with magicka skill costs. If you're not part of a trials guild yet, I have one you could join where the mindset is free of toxicity and a welcome place for new and experienced trial goers. They run teaching trials weekly. Normal, vet. Teams for hardmode content. If interested :P
Well done! Happy for you! Now you have done it once, it really does become easier from this point on, the pressure is off now, so you'll start flying through it faster as you farm the weapons you need
