Notes from July 9, 2020 ESO Live
I thought yesterday's ESO Live was an enjoyable and informative episode. I took some notes for a friend and I thought I'd share them here as well for anyone that doesn't have the time to watch it.
- The Q3 DLC will be a dungeon DLC titled Stonethorn.
- It will feature two dungeons: Castle Thorn and Stone Garden, set in Western Skyrim and Blackreach respectively.
- Reward for entering the dungeons is an energized Dwarven spider pet (sounded electric) but we didn't see it.
- Hard mode activation for both dungeons will involve lighting a brazer/torch pedistal. This will be applied to future dungeons and trials and will be clearer whether hard mode is on or not. It looked liked it could be toggled on or off if someone accidentally activates HM before the fight starts.
- Castle Thorn is a large vampire castle; reminded me of the Castlevania series. Very gothic and detailed. Final boss is Lady Thorn, a vampire.
- Monster set for Castle Thorn: using an ability that costs health creates a ball of blood. Allies can synergies the ball of blood for major aoe damage.
- Reward for vet completion of Castle Thorn is a vampire skin.
- Stone Gardens is set in a mad scientist/alchemist's lair that is occupied by werewolves.
- Some unique mechanics in Stone Gardens that allow players to transform into a werewolf behemoth. This is used in the dungeon and on the final boss. In behemoth form you have a special skill bar.
- Only three bosses in Stone Gardens but each has a hard mode. Not clear what reward was for finishing all bosses on hard mode. Sounds like you need to do the first boss on HM to be able to access HM for the second boss. First time they have tried this in a dungeon.
- Vet completion of Stone Garden rewards a potion juggler emote.
- New monster set for Stone Garden: drinking a potion grants you and three allies 44 ultimate. Edit/correction: @Faulgor points out that I misheard this and it wasn't the new monster set but instead a new heavy 5 piece set.
Other updates and changes:
- Item set changes: overhaul of many item sets, particularly those with a proc condition. See forum post for more info.
- Housing Changes: Pathing for pets, mounts and assistants that allows you to program the residents of your house to move from place to place.
- You'll also be able to collect new housing visitors that sounded like NPCs that visit your home.
- New mounts: group mounts that allow you to drive your friends around. The example shown was a Dwarven spider mount with two seats. This seemed like it would be useful in Cyrodiil for allies without a maxed out mount or to limit the number of people that need to run Rapids.
- We had a glimpse of upcoming crown crates which appeared to be Sovengaard themed.
- An article on the DLC went live on the main webpage during ESO Live.
