Does sharpened affect zaan dmg?

title says it all. I'm trying to determine if I should use sharpened, nirnhoned, or infused + lightning glyph on mainhand destro staff for my magblade. I use zaan monster set as part of my burst combo.

in long - it affects, as long as you don't overpenetrate your target resistances
nirnhooded doesn't affect zaan dmg, because it's not dependent on spell dmg / max mag stat
infused + lightning (minor vulnerability) also affects zaan dmg, if you can't/don't want to run lotus fan for some reason2 -

lotus fan seems pretty weak. If it also snared, maybe I would run it.
But it seems like crippling grasp + spell dmg potion or degeneration would be the better DOT to use0 -

So, dumb question, but... why would I want to run lotus fan?
It seems counter-productive on a magblade; all my (relevant) abilities work at range, and I'm pretty squishy up-close, so I have a hard time understanding why I want to intentionally put myself into melee range.

that's not true, since soul harvest, fear and concealed are melee, while ass will heals you in melee range - that's 4/6 class-defining skills which work/perform better in melee range.
This means that during your burst window you HAVE TO be near your opponent on most solo magblade builds.
Of course you can go all ranged - reach-CC, ranged spammbale, ranged ult (meteor?), but that will be just be a gimped version of sorc, and I don't even consider it to be a viable option.
Yes, lotus fan has many problems - hidden cast time, connecting problems and so on, and I prefer to build for row speed (wild hunt + RaT) to be able to just walk into enemy instead of gap closing, but on some other builds it can defiantly work.

ThePedge✭✭✭✭✭The damage of caluurions is set and doesn't scale with max magicka or spell damage.
Enemy resistances will still apply, mitigating some of the damage. Therefore the more of their resistances you penetrate, the higher damage calurrion will do.
The ceiling being they have zero resistances left and it will deal its tooltip damage.
Other buffs are flat buffs such as Minor Berserk, Death Stroke, Minor Vulnerability on target etc, which increase your damage do apply, increasing its damage.Edited by ThePedge on July 7, 2020 1:20PM0
