Returning player - worth grinding cp if it’s disappearing?

samdegreat
Hey all!

I recently came back after 4 years with 501cp intending to PVP and complete challenging endgame content. I have decided to grind out 810CP but heard the champion point system is disappearing soon?

1) Is there any update on this?
2) would I be wasting my time?

P.S I know the returns are diminishing but i view them very beneficial this is not the issue :)

Thanks in advance,

Sam

You might as well. There's no ETA on the change to CP. For me, I put things like server performance, combat overhaul, and CP changes in the same category as Adventure Zones. So CP is still relevant, and may always be.

Yeh I guess for now I may as well haha well said! Only taken me 4 days to gain 65CP Just hoping if they do change it we will be compensated equally in the new system for our long grinds!

Thanks for the immediate response :)

Where did they mention this champion point system being changed?

No matter what to be at the top of whatever the system they come out with, you will need to be at CP810.

Now, being above 810? Not sure if that will matter. When they were getting ready to retire Vet Ranks, the extra Exp we earned was for naught. But, back then, there was no reliable way to tally the overage like we have now.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I’ve been told in game by a few people not to bother as overhaul coming soon. So I looked it up on the forums and last year they mentioned the cap would no longer increase and the whole system would be overhauled as it was only ever meant to be a temporary measure. Additionally, I saw somewhere it would take at least a year and some mentioned quarter 3/4, 2020.

Just search up ‘champion points’ on google or on the forums there’s a lot of threads relating to the topic.

I remember the extra exp was naught. I’m hoping 810cp will be beneficial for when they change it but you never know. The purpose of removing it is to make the game fairer and provide new players with faster access to endgame content and PVP so potentially we could all be made even.

Personally I like the champion point system and it forced me to experience pve In addition to levelling undaunted which I actually really enjoyed on this game as Im a pvper at heart!

Guess I’ll just grind out 810 anyhow and enjoy pvp while I can.

For PvP, you can play in the no-CP campaign (and Battlegrounds are no-CP anyway).

For trials, you will probably see a requirement for higher CP unless you can show them a good dummy parse, but getting CP is pretty easy if you are below 810 by just playing the game.

I have almost 1400 CP and I've resigned myself to the fact that there's probably no way they'll take into account players with more than 810 CP.

So don't grind too hard. Its not really a race at this point.

The last time they talked about anything to do with CP changes was over a year ago and nothing new since then and grinding out CP is easy especially if you are already over 500CP it should not take long to hit max especially if you do all out with it, i have taken a toon from lvl 3-810 CP in a matter of a few days during an exp event and running all training gear and 150 pots ✌

All we know if Zos is looking at making changes. If Zos were to get rid of CP they would likely replace it with something else. My guess is Zos froze the CP cap to limit what they are somewhat obligated to convert to a new system if that is the direction Zos goes. Makes sense.

They've said they're revamping CP, they didn't say they'd remove it. I highly doubt they'd remove it because of how unpopular taking away things people have accumulated for years would be.

Why anyone would grind CP if they want to pvp is beyond me. Battlegrounds are noCP anyway and you can play the noCP Cyro if you’re desperate to experience the lag in alliance war.

If you were doing both BGs and CP Cyrodiil, you’d have to keep changing your build back and forth anyway. Better to commit to noCP.

In other words, forget CP would be my advice.

I should imagine that the magic numbers for cp will be 160 and possibly 810, the former due to the gear cap, and the latter due to max cp.

I've still got just under 200 cp to get to 810 on my na account. I'm not rushing though, there's plenty of time.

Noone knows what they are going to do with CP yet. Personally I hope they expand the CP system with a non-gameplay bonus system for points over 810.

I wouldn't be too worried about how they change the CP-system though, as ZOS can't just remove it due to selling and gifting experience scrolls. Not to mention the outrage that will happen, if players see their hard-earned CP just being deleted. So they will have to move over your experience to the new system, or expanded system. For now, just getting to 810 will be enough.

My account is over 810, and will slowly go up just by playing. I'm saving my experience scrolls for when they are worth using.

You don't have to actually grind to 810 though, as your CP will go up quite quickly by simply playing. So just do what you enjoy.

I’ve always liked the god like builds you can make with champion points. I main a vampire sorcerer and the new passive that allows you to go invisible seems op. Lightning Streak to stun and run in a circle to recover magicka! I usually run a high Crit build and every point contributes a lot IMO.

I have 247 skill points I think and if champion points can’t be used in battlegrounds they can be untouched. So the only thing I’d have to change potentially for battlegrounds is my gear which isn’t an issue if I choose to do both.

Never even thought about the logic behind gifting daily rewards such as experience scrolls! That’s a very good point tbf so I better get grinding 🤪

I enjoy pvp more with max CP, otherwise it’ll always be on my mind as it’s a disadvantage I can easily achieve over a month.

noCP PvP is an option too. Competitive from CP160.
